Suggestion, DON'T Use Triple Thick to Reinforce a Gaplus Marquee

Because it is a sticker and not paint on the glass, the artwork actually puckered and lifted as the the paint dried. If you need to reinforce a Gaplus marquee, I suggest you go the clear packing tape route. I was able to salvage it in the end, but it ended up looking slightly worse than when I started. I will post some after photos tonight.

I had to constantly push the artwork back down until the paint dried. I was nervous the whole time. This video only shows the beginning.

I used Valspar Clear Gloss just yesterday. Worked great.

Jon

Was yours starting to delaminate before you started? Cause that is where I ran into problems. The areas that weren't attached to the glass curled. I had to keep pressing them down until it finally set.

Which one, the marquee, bezel, or both? (I'm currently using my dialup connection, so I can't really watch the video)...was gonna use triple thick on my marquee on the advice of a pinball artwork restorer. My bezel actually looks good, except where someone painted over the instruction card area with black paint :(

You're supposed to put saran wrap over the Triple Thick after you spray it on.

They are made the same (marquee and bezel) so just be careful! I would start with very thin coats. Is yours delaminating anywhere?

Yeah, it has a vertical slit in the middle of the A that's slightly delaminated.

Didn't you make a repro marquee? Why did you need to triple thick it?

Haa haa, yes I did make a repo, that was my old one, how it looked when I got it. What I triple thicked was the bezel. It was starting to delaminate.

Here it is with the new marquee, and t-molding:
