Needed: Suction cup for WG6100

ok, I'm close to finishing my first WG6100 repair. Not as bad as I was expecting :D

The suction cup on the 2nd anode is splitting at the top. I'm sure it would be fine to leave as is (wasn't having any issue with that part), but since I'm rebuilding the monitor anyway.....

I would either like to replace it, or repair it. I remember seeing a topic on here about fixing the suction cup, but for the life of me, I can't locate it...

The best solution would be to just replace it. Does anyone sell new ones, or do we need to scavenge form a dead flyback?

If you have one, PM me and let me know what you want for it!

Thanks!

I believe the suction cups on the 6100 are replaceable. Many are. The metal clip inside the suction cup is soldered onto the end of the anode lead. You should be able to fold the suction cup back and pop out the clip, desolder it, and slide the damaged suction cup off the end of the wire - replace it with one from a dead flyback/TV set.

When soldering HV connections, avoid making pointy solder joints...

i have a flyback on a 4600 where the suction cup is missing a piece but it works fine like that. If its not arking i would leave it alone

Yes, you can swap it out with one from a dead flyback. Just follow Retrohacker's advice.

Try to save the crimp tube by uncrimping it with a small screwdriver on the dead flyback and the working 6100 one. That way you will be able to recrimp the connector possibly.
