What is the little gray box pictured in the top right corner with the "Caution" label?

And another one: Why do some cabinets have 120v outlets inside?

Yes, AC line filter. Generally they don't fail... they take the line in, and output the same voltage out, so also easy to test.

They are called service outlets. It's there so you could plug a soldering iron in and do on site repairs, back in the day.

Q1 answer - ac line filter; needed to meet conducted emissions standards. No surge protection.
Q2 answer - inside cabinet AC outlet useful for technician to add a light or other AC powered test equipment or soldering iron etc

Ok. On Q2, that's what I was thinking, but wondered if there was some other secret purpose I hadn't considered.

Also note, there is no such thing as a "stupid question" but some come really close ... LOL :D

BTW, I guess if you wanted you could power a 120VAC fan from that outlet. (I think it is already fused)

I've been in IT for 30 years. There ARE stupid questions.

I'm a fan of the "Eye Dee Ten Tee" error.

I'm not in IT, but I love the ID10T error reference. I use it on my dad all the time when I'm trying to troubleshoot the easiest of computer questions for him. LOL.

OK, so on a rating scale from 1 to 10 (where one is brilliant/insightful and 10 is "Eye dee 10 Tee"), where do you rate your two questions? :001_ssuprised:

Oh, and do you drive a pickup truck down there in Texas and is there a gun rack on the rear window? LOL

You tell me! The photo you posted was from Georgia.

Yeh, the dog one, right? I added that only for the dog with the semi-automatic (?) in the window. Couldn't find a good relevant Texas pic ... LOL

I guess it's been a while since you've emerged from the cold comfort of your ice cave, but I haven't seen a gun rack in Texas in 20 years.
