I'm a n00b, having recently purchased my first couple of cabinets. My JAMMA cabinet is a Primal Rage conversion, which is a JAMMA+. As far as I can tell from the pinouts, the Primal Rage board is the same as the standard JAMMA except that it uses pins M and 11 for the right speaker, and pins CC, DD, 25, and 26 for additional controls. The pinout is attached.

My questions is this - does it hurt anything to have these additional pins in the harness when swapping boards that do not requrie a connection at those points? I would think that standard JAMMA boards just wouldn't have anything traced to those spots on the edge connector.

I ask because I was unable to get either of my two boards to work in the cabinet. One had no sound (I would expect to have the left speaker only) and one had a bizarre video issue.

they're the same, many games have some extra wires added in or removed.

nope shouldn't hurt anything at all

which boards wouldn't work? and what was the bizarre video issue?

if you want to test any boards, bring them when you bring your monitor. I also have a test bench with 2 full sets of controls.

you pic may be out of sync?

Got it figured out...a few things happening.

Sound wasn't working because Primal Rage sound isn't even wired through the JAMMA harness...fixed that.

Controls weren't working because neither board was set to free play...fixed that.

Video issue was a frequency setting on the dips...fixed that.

Everything's working fine - thanks for the replies.

Sorry to ressurect an older thread but I have tekken that's of course jamma and I wanted to see if primal rage would work in it. You wouldn't happen to have some pictures of your board hookup would you? Would like to see what I'm missing as far as connections (I know I'm missing a jumper on the main board).

Primal Rage will work in it but unless you have the audio cable which connects the sound board to the main board you won't get any audio out of the JAMMA connector. Other than that the only quirky thing is that P1 and P2 start buttons also function as QUICK HIGH buttons on Primal Rage, and if it's a dedicated TEKKEN you have the kick buttons wired from a seperate harness so you will have to do some control panel wire patching to make it playable.
