1988 Data East Secret Service is the machine. About 2 weeks ago I noticed the backbox GI lights weren't lit. I finally was able to get at it today to see what was up. I was fully expecting a blown fuse. Unfortunately I didn't find a blown fuse...

There is a bank of 4 GI fuses. After a visual test of each circuit it appears the 2nd from the right side is the culprit. When I disconnect that circuit nothing appears to turn off so I'm left to assume that's the backbox door circuit. After testing, I determined I am getting power to the lug... but somewhere between the lug and the backbox door the circuit is broken... or the ground has been broken somewhere... right?

Any other places I should look?

Start checking all of the connectors, and the solder to the pins, for the GI lights. I find it a fairly regular occurrence to have to change out these connectors all the time due to burned or heat-warped connectors.

If you don't have the manual, just check the two wire colors to that string, then find the two connectors on the board that have those two wire colors. You can do continuity checks between the board and the bulbs if you want to check the wiring...

I second the need to check the connector(s)/pins. Very common that these are damaged and need replaced after a coule decades of use.
