I just walked out to the gameroom... 10:40AM...

...to find Omega Race running... still...

I turned her on around 10:30PM last night.

12 hour burn in... man I am happy she's still going.

BAD FRIZ! BAD BAD BAD BAD BAD FRIZ!

I did that once, with 3 of my games, for 3 days. They were running fine; I was shocked that I could be so stupid as to leave not 1, but 3 of them on.

I always worry about that with my games. I try to turn all of them on for a few hours a month. And about 1-2 times I year I turn them on for 10-12 hours except some of the vector games like Star Trek SOS.

I used to run my Crazy Climber 24/7 until I found that it was eating about $8 in electricity per month.

Other than being cheap, I'm not too concerned about leaving things on. That said, my Star Trek sounds like a jet engine, so it's a little unsettling...

You do realize that these games were *meant* to be left running for 12 hours at a time, right? Some were on all the time. Most arcades shut them down at night, but the machines at the 7-11 were on constantly.

Sure, they're old, but you've already gone through and rebuilt most of the stuff on Omega Race. I would have no problem running most of my games for 12 hours straight. Exception would be the odd game I haven't had time to properly go through and fix up.

I used to think that too, until I got a Q*bert and then later a Tempest. I've rebuilt just about everything on both of those games (some parts I've even had shipped off to reputable repair guys to check over the rebuilds) and neither game ever stays 100% working if left on longer than an hour at a time. If we were talking Nintendo or Jamma games, hell yeah, leave them on forever.

Of course I realize it... and if it were any of my raster games I'd not even bat an eye...

Omega Race is a vector game... and not only that, but a vector game that needs it's monitor rebuilt still...

;)

As odd as it sounds, my Frogger actually seems to work BETTER when I leave it on for a few days at a time. Turning it on and off constantly seems to cause the sound to cut in and out more. When I leave it on, the audio doesn't flake out and works pretty steady.

Some of my games are on lots of hours - DK being one of them. It gets lots of play.

My Asteroids Deluxe can be a fit finicky, so I try to shut it off when I'm not playing it.

One of my games, Arkanoid II: The Revenge of Doh - I swear I need to have a seance just to get that game to turn on properly.

In our office we have a xybots machine that's used almost 100% for decoration. We played it a bunch when we got it but it doesn't get played at all anymore. Our clients like it. It has been on for the last 4 years and we haven't had a single problem. I only became a serious collector about 2 years ago, and by then any damage was done. I'm sure the screen is burned beyond repair by now, so there's no use shutting it off.

All my games are only on if they're being played at that particular moment.

12 hours is no biggie. I have had parties several times a year where the entire 'cade is on for 14 hours straight! :)

I have a DK in my office at work. One day I left work not realizing I left it on. I took the next day off. It was still on two days later when I came back to work! D'oh!!

You left an Omega Race on all night? If that had been a Sega vector, you might not have a gameroom anymore.

Left my Gun Fight on all night accidentally...next morning garbled screen. Now the board is in the shop and I'm not sure it's repairable since apparently my board is a weird one - has one leg from each rom pulled out.....and it doesn't look like an op hack.

Dorky's has an Omega Race cocktail that's on whenever they're open; i've never seen it down unlike a few of their more "reliable" titles.

My ex-wife left her Tempest on.....she came back to her house smelling like burnt electronics. Whoops!

Guess who was stupid enough to repair the monitor for her? Well, she's paying me to repair it. hah!!!
