So, I have these Happ Ultimates. One of them seems to be messed up.... i.e. when I push left, it'll trigger left+up, or when I press right, it'll trigger right+down. This only happens sometimes, which makes me think the actuator is getting stuck. I've greased it up but it's still doing it. Any ideas? Maybe I need to lube the actuator better?

To better help explain, I have a SVC Chaos in the machine right now... A lot of the time I'll think I'm just pressing back and I'll block and duck instead.. Or I'll press forward but diagonally jump instead of walking forward.

Just as a FYI if anyone cares, I ended up shortening the throw of the sticks and it seems to have improved the situation greatly.

These sticks are brand new, btw. Not even a month old.

I have seen two causes of that.

1. Your hand thinks left and right are slightly different from they way it is actually mounted. This is really common in games like virtua fighter where the joystick axis is NOT parallel to the control panel.

2. The square actuator is getting stuck occasionally when you rotate the stick so that it is hitting two switches.

Given that you say shortening the throw helped, I am inclined to suspect option 1.

also unless orderd form groovy game gear happs sticks with the square actuator have been known to be made wrong
the hole that the joysticks pass thrue is to small take some sand paper and make the hole just a tad bigger
that way the actuator will not move as the joystick shaft is turned

and then also round off the 4 corners on the outside of the actuator a bit they tend to get stuck in the holes on the cherry switches that are there for the blades when using the round actuator like in the supers

Yes, this was my initial thought too. However, when looking at the bolts, if I move due left (in between the two bolts), it's fine, but if I move just a little bit down it triggers down, and it has to move WAY up to trigger up... And if I spin the joystick 360 a few times it's better. I think it has something to do with the actuators.

Yeah, they were from some random seller on eBay. Great deal, but maybe a bit shoddy. I'll try to sand them down a little bit. Thing is, they're already lubed up pretty good so I'd think they'd spin fine.

Side note, I found that if you put the actuators on upside down, they function as a 4-way. I thought you had to have a special actuator for that -- pretty cool.
