All I want is my Spy Hunter fixed or replaced. It's a cockpit model it had some dings and bad side are but everything worked and everything else was prerfect. I spent a crap load of time working it, and now she is contacting retailers to ask what they would charge for it, but is only sending picture of the swollen water drenched base with pealing side art. ARGH, never mind the rebuilt electronics, or the recapped monitor with no burn, or any of the other things that are refurbished.

Then she sends me an ad and says, here it is for 600....So once again I email her and say, there is a big difference between a sit down and an upright model.

Then she starts telling me that the prices she sees are for "restored" models which mine was not. But she keeps swapping refurbished and restored, I can guarantee the ones she's seeing are not restored, as no one makes the side art for the cockpit! I want to say, you are right, I just fixed all the authentic stuff in the cabinet and didn't paint the sides white and put an upright sticker on there, I'm waiting for Rich to finish the sides and do it right. And for what it's worth, the work I did on that machine is equal to or exceeds what the retailers usually call "refurbished".

You pay insurance for years and years, then you have one claim, for 1/10 of what you have paid them over the years and they argue with paying you to replace you stuff.

Rant over, I miss my Spyhunter....

Best of luck in your battle. I just recently got my sitdown SH up and running and it's getting a lot of play time from me and the kids. Still a lot of work to do on it, but I sure love it.

??? Me confused. Where can I read the dumby down version?

It sounds like your problem is your insurance adjuster, unless you live in a small town where the agent doubles as the adjuster. Don't take their final estimate as the final word, you can always ask to speak with a supervisor. Have your adjuster get in touch with Dale or Todd and see what they would charge. Is she finding these supposed comparable cabs locally or is shipping involved?

Finished basement flooded...so the game soaked in 2 inches of water... It's at my fathers house and the "flood repair guys" didn't get it off the ground for 3 days... When they finally did they supported only the four corners so it cracked too.

Sorry the story got lost in my fury of aggravation...

Here's the dumbed down version:
1) Flood in basement
2) Cockpit Spyhunter goes swimming
3) Me cry
4) Insurance agent start sending me adds for uprights saying, see this is 600 for one
5) I get upset because she isn't actually looking for refurbed cocktpits...
6) She says mine isn't refurbed because side art is bad...does not concern herself with the fact that I went through all the electronics, controls, and everything else
7) I hate insurance companies, 1600 a year for the last 15 years for home owners... 1 other claim for 2000, that leave 22000 dollars of my money that they took!!!!
8)... I'll update if something develops

She says the policy says "cash value" so I'm sure shipping is not involved, even though I personally drove to GA to pick it up... Hey if anyone has one and wants to quote a sales price...including shipping, go for it. I asked tnt, vintage has one for 2500, but she is stuck on it being "restored" which Gene says it's clearly not. I think the hardest part is that she is trying to use the upright as a benchmark.

You're paying $1,600 a year for homeowners insurance? HOLY SHIT. I thought Farmers was bad at $630... I just moved to Travelers with the same coverage for $398.

Speak to her supervisor. Depending on how your policy is worded she can completely screw you, especially if she defines your item as being obsolete. Insurance companies will not replace obsolete items. You really need to add replacement cost coverage to your policy. With ACV they can devalue your stuff to damn near nothing.

Depends on where you're at and how much coverage you've got...

$1600 isn't too horrible for Houston depending on how much insurance you have.

I just asked State Farm to add my video games to my homeowners policy and they came back with a "sorry, we don't insure those".

Frizz, you pay by living in Idaho my friend :) I would say that's worth more than 1000 a year :)

Actually I loved my visit there, the white water kayaking is awesome!!

...best state I ever lived in. (Granted...I've only ever lived in California and Nevada prior to Idaho)

So we just need to get some KLOV'rs with Spy Hunter Cockpits to post some CL ads in your area with their "Un-restored", crappy side art Spy Hunters for $1500+... Let her find those and base her valuation on them.

And yes, I hear you about insurance agents... had a 69 GMC 1/2 Ton that I'd done a frame up restoration on and used to bracket race. Got t-boned and ended up hitting a tree. First day out of the hospital the insurance adjuster asked me to sign a paper to allow them to move the truck to their yard to save storage costs while they dealt with the claim. I signed... turns out it gave the rights to part out the truck, which they wasted no time doing. In the end I got under $1,000 for a truck I had over $30k in receipts for. Truck was already stripped down to nothing, so I had no real recourse...

Wow, I think I'd be filing some major complaints with the state insurance board over that one... Hello Action News!

Man, you pay a lot for insurance (depending on the worth of the house). Matter of fact I just got my renewal today and it went from 650 to 790 and I'm pissed!

Good ole ICBC ????

seems the major issue is them looking at uprights vs cockpits, huge difference.

ofcourse if we all had uprights and adjuster found prices on cockpits we would all be in good shape then wouldnt we ahahahha
