Just got one of these. Worked when got it, but has a lighter horizontal band that scrolls up through the screen. So I started to replace caps.. did the monitor, no change. Then did all of the game pcb, no change. There were a couple IC's on the board that were socketed with machine pin sockets. The game though would play I believe properly, but when it went to attract, I could turn the throttle all the way up and the attract cycle would move at the speed I cranked it at. There is no return spring for the throttle so I am not sure if this is something that is normal. The legs were black on a couple ic's, so I pulled those out, cleaned them, and the game had issues. Sound was out, and the controls for the throttle seemed off.
I replaced the sockets with dual swipe, and the sound came back. The throttle response in attract was gone. At some point I had turned the pot in the center of game pcb back and forth to clean the wipe.
So, upon reading some threads to track down the monitor interference, I read a post about that pot, that it adjusted the cycle speed and gravity. Since the cycle would fly off the right side of the screen when jumping at full, I thought it was too much. Also when it hit the up ramp, it would do it's crash as the cycle flew off the right side.. So I adjusted it down so at full throttle the cycle lands at the far right edge of screen. However, when I first got this, when the cycle started out, if I cranked the throttle to hard the cycle would flip over and crash. I had to go to the max end of the throttle turn to get much of a speed increase as well.
So I am wondering for those that have unmolested games, if it is normal for the cycle to flip over if you turn the throttle too hard during the run? It made sense if you did too hard a wheelie that it would flip, but it doesn't now even if you start out full crank. It pops a wheelie, but no flip.
