I know pinball is in the high swing of supply and demand and prices reflect that craziness right now. My family owned a pinball when I was growing up, so I want to dip my foot into the water. This one is clean and has been gone through by a local collector/dealer. It has been a home machine for the last 20 years. Its very, very clean. Is $6k off the mark? I only have room for one pin, so I wanted to get one that has a lot of playability/longevity and of a subject matter I like (big fan of that TV series).

Depends on location (fuck the CA pin market everything's overpriced (n)), I like to look at active and sold listings on Pinside as close to my area as I can get, then guesstimate the price based off the added features, condition, etc. The average Pinside price isn't very accurate because it lumps in old listings which don't reflect current prices, it doesnt take into account region, and some of the ads on Pinside don't have prices disclosed. Seems like $6k isn't terrible if it's in as good of condition as you're saying. Others seem to sell for ~$5k fully shopped out with ColorDMD added ($250 value)

Thanks @VidyaGamez My mind was saying $5k as well but I am seeing system11's going for $4k (asking price who knows if they will get that), so I was curious where this would fall on the spectrum.

6K is high for STTNG, you are correct in thinking 5k range. I wouldn't suggest it for a first pin because it can require more maintenance than most pins with all the opto sensors and the guns have issues frequently.

I sold one recently for $5K. It was a 9/10 game with nice sideart, color DMD, laser cannons and new plastics. But I tend to give people good deals and don't price things to the max when I sell.

I look for STTNG prices to keep rising, its a good game. Give them another year or two they will be up there around what TZ and TAF's are bringing currently.

@hsapinball - Arkansas is a nice road trip for the wife and I. Keep me in mind for any System11 or early to mid90s systems. Preferably Williams/Bally.

@keithlee - You should sell me your STTNG, Pinbot, and Asteroids :)

4-5k There are a ton of these for sale, condition is everything. Only a couple grand more, But They will never be in the price range that taf and tz are selling for.

6K is high for a ST:TNG. Unfortunately the days of scooping them up for 4K are probably long gone and 5Kish seems like the new range on them.

That said, if you are a big Star Trek fan, take a good look at the Stern Star Trek pin. It is the same designer, and has some nods to ST:TNG. It is a great shooting game with amazing flow, and the current code is fantastic. It has 3 layers of modes and 3 wizard modes with multiple approaches to scoring, so great for the home and for new/skilled players. Best of all you can find used pros in the 4200-5000 range and they are generally low maintenance games. It is pretty well regarded as one of the best Stern pins up there with Tron, LOTR, TWD, etc. Probably my favorite game.

Thanks @grantopia Stern didn't cross my radar after reading and watching reviews are their poor build quality and problematic boards. I take it you have had good luck with them?

Stern Star Trek is on the SAM system which is way more reliable than a 1993 bally/williams game will be. Stern did have some cabinet spitting issues around Ghostbusters but have gone back to better leg brackets to fix that issue, Star Trek came out way before Ghostbusters. You will have to look at the specific playfield quality of any game you get, any chipping or pooling issues Stern had was after Star Trek also.

The game is from 2013, so this would be well before all of the "issues" people seem to have with Stern games. They did a vault run of the game a few years back also, but I've never played one of those so can't really speak to it. I'd make sure to check out the game in person before you buy it and make sure the playfield, etc looks good to you. I've never had a problem with mine.
