struggling to remove cpo from Williams wood cp

What's everyone using now that they removed the good stuff from Jaasco's stripper?

I've got a couple to do now that the weather is better and have the new Jaasco and a couple others. Guess I'll report back unless anyone has something new and guaranteed.

Acetone is so good at dissolving glues.

Found this yesterday in my paint supplies and dropped it off at Broodwich's today!

I have used heat gun and chisel to defeat Williams CPO adhesive. I scrape the CPO off first, then go after the black adhesive after. it's easiest with the panel still bolted to the game, but unlatched and hanging down... I think is how I did it.

to get the rest off I've used Citristrip, leave it on for awhile, scrape the remnants off accordingly. do whatever to the metal panel part. I finished off with some sanding at the end. just don't go crazy on the wooden lip portion that aligns with where the metal is. I did this and had to rebuild it with either bondo or wood filler later... oops.

reinstall metal panel after cleaning/prepping as necessary.

sidenote: I hate any kind of restoration work. I'll stick with the electronic end as much as possible.
