put my vote in for the centuri cabs! if it wasn't for the crappy particle board, this would be the toughest cab to destroy. the whole cabinet is put together with L brackets, screws and bolts. no glue on these puppies!!!

EXACTLY what I was going to say. I installed side art on my Time Pilot a couple months back and had a hell of a time. There's like 20 bolts on each side! They are well constructed cabs.

Funny you said that! I just got side art for my Track and Field and I have yet to put it on because of all the frickin' bolts on it! WTF! It's going to take me forever to remove them so the art can go on properly. UGH!

Mylstar sit down MACH 3 cabinet.

Double sheathed construction grade plywood, glue, nails, screws. Unbelievable.

LTG :)

Donkey Kong cabaret.

(I kid. While reasonably well-built, I can damn near carry that thing on my shoulder.)

I've only taken a 6slot neo geo apart. everything was stappled and glued. It was a beast.

I picked up a Block Out (dead/converted) that I am converting to a multicade for a charity auction.

I don't know what cabinet it came in... but it's similar in construction to the Track and Field cabinets (not shape... pretty generic). Super sturdy MDF, all bolts and "L" brackets.

SNK MVS-U2/33

The one on the left , 33" CRT, 350 lbs all metal and build like a tank !

sega driving games (super gt, daytona, inital d, ect). They are built on a steel frame and are 700lbs. You might be able to damage some plastic pieces on it, but you will never be able to destroy one. You can also add stuff like afterburner sitdown, gloc sitdown, hang on, ect.

race drivin sitdown would not be fun to destroy. I can tell you pulling apart a hard drivin compact was not easy. I think reinforced with steel bracing cabs like taito and centuri would not be easy to pull apart(but come apart nice if you unbolt them). As someone ponted out, any candy ca will be tough as they are pretty much all steel too.

but if you want to say toughest wood cab, I would say something like a sega turbo. You have to really work hard to damage that cab.

I don't know about strongest but Atari cabinets sure are heavy. Midway plywood cabinets are built to last.

I agree, pac cabs and other midway from that era are pretty tough. The only thing they skimped on was the bottom of the cab.

On the other end of the spectrum the worst built cabs are qbert, galaxian and anything else made of that fake ass cardboard wood. One drop of water and poof!

Yeah, I recently got a converted Gyruss cab and was considering parting it out and destroying the cab. But after seeing how well it's put together with all those brackets, I'm having second thoughts.

Taito's are built the same but with better materials. They both have their pro's and con's though. I've yet to see a Centuri cab that didn't have at least one damaged corner and I've yet to see a Taito cab that didn't need the base replaced.
