Hi,

Getting ready to strip my Dynamo CP tomorrow. Will sand a few rust spots, strip it, and then get it ready for painting.

I'm told that Citristrip will do a good job of stripping it. For those of you that have used it, any suggestions or best practices to be aware of?

What should I be aware of seeing as how I've never done this before?

I'd like to have it stripped and cleaned up in the same afternoon.

Thanks in advance!

I used it to take off the woodgrain vinyl on my cabarets and it worksd great. I put it on and id say within a few ours it came off real easy. Just work in a well ventalated area cause the citrus smell can get over powering.

OK, so apply a thick layer of Citristrip on the CP and let it sit for how long?

And how do I get it off?

I'll work in my garage with the door open so it should be okay for ventilation. I'll wear my painters mask so I'm sure the neighbors will think I'm a freak but at least it won't tear my lungs up.

Any other hints for stripping the CP?

I attempted removing a Tetris overlay from an Dragon's lair Cp using a heat gun. It worked ok on the Tetris overlay... the problem was the decimated DLCPO was still underneath, which the heat gun did not remove... so more work. 8vP

In my case there is no overlay on the cp -- it was sandwiched between 2 pieces of 1/16" plexi sitting on top of the CP so it was trivial to remove it.

But the metal CP is rusted in a few small places and the paint's peeled off in a few more so I need to remove what's left and repaint.

I used the "Zinser" version of Citri-Strip(from Menards) on my Tron CP. It's a gel so it's easy to put on. I pulled the top layer of plastic off with the aid of a head gun. After that I put on the CS per it's directions. I let it sit for approx 3 hours and used a plastic scraper and it came right up. Had to use goof off to get the old CPO adhesive up completely. Steel wooled the minor rust spots. Baam! ready for new CPO.

I also used it to take the Blue paint off my Tron. It worked very well. Someone had painted it blue.....pics are in my gallery if you want to check it out.

I hope this is helpful
