Stripping a CP

If its metal, fire up the grill, grab a beer and let 'er bake for an hour.

Crap flakes off after that. Completely amazing results. Then wire brush it to clean it up after. The rest of the options are completely unecessary.

What does it do to your grill???

There are some nasty chemicals that burn off these panels I would not want it anywhere that I east from

Using a wire wheel. Working great, but I am worried that I will burn out my cordless... (I dont have an AC drill).

I picked up a set of 5 or 6 wire wheels at Harbor Freight Sunday. they were on sale for $2. Should have gotten more.

I pay $20 to the local machine shop to sandblast/prime for me. Greatest thing, ever.

Use Jasco stripper. Its cheap.

Spread it on, let it sit for a few minutes, then scrape off. Everything except the metal will come right off.

Ha! Even skin and bone!!

This is what I do. Make sure to use chemical resistant gloves. Even after 15 mins, I need to take a break due to the Jasco fumes eating through the gloves and making my hands oddly cold. After I scrape off all of the adhesive with a putty knife, I wipe down the cp using mineral spirits. Typically I will sand, primer and paint. I have had CP's powder coated in the past.

my new one turns at faster rpm's than my old drill but works just as good
the only thing i dont like is it weighs nothing so i gotta put some ass into it while drilling thrue the metal cp's my old drill was freaking heavy so its own weight did all the work
but it seems they just dont make em like they used to the black and decker was the heaviest of all the drills they had there in my price range

Here are some pictures of the CP stripped and holes filled:

And painted... ooh, shiny! :D

Unfortunately, I did not take pictures of it before. It had a generic red/blue overlay that was falling apart. PPR Stickers where on top of that, followed by a Plexi that was dirty and falling apart (held on by the 4 bolts). What made it worse is that when I stripped it, I confirmed that a Peter Pack Rat overlay was under it
