The first pic shows what I picked up a few weeks ago. It's a basket case and in the worst condition of any pin that I've ever owned. There are no boards or a backglass for it.

The second pic shows the finishing nails they used, I guess it was to hold up bent or broken plastics.

And the third pic shows that when things break it's better to cobble it back together instead of fix things the right way. You can tell from the wear on the cardboard patch that it was played for a while after the patch was put on it.

Here's a shot showing how filthy it was. It spent a lot of years without a glass and there was a lot of dirt, grime, and dust built up on it.

In addition to this, it was stained and had a couple of cigarette burns on it.

Here's what the playfield looked like once the hardware and electronics were stripped off of it and another pic of it after scrubbing with a magic eraser.

Here's a pic after a couple of passes with primer and paint and then the second one is after about a week's worth of work.

did somebody do some bad touchups on it? Looks discolored in spots. Great games though, worth the restore.

Edit: I mean in the 1st pic

Looking good! I'm honestly not much of a pin guy, but for some reason, Strikes & Spares is one I'd like to own someday. It's always looked like a pretty fun game. :)

Yea, they didn't put a lot of effort into it at all. Worst problem is that it has some fading, so the yellow is not the same color across the playfield.

I'm not looking for perfect, so as long as it's decent looking and smooth it will work while I wait for a better playfield or a repro to be made.

Nice work with the magic eraser. I used this method on my Bally Circus last year along with Meguires pure Carnuba and it turned out fantastic. I do have a few spots to touch up but have yet to build the courage to attempt it.

Good luck with your restoration!

The backglass arrived yesterday. It's in nice shape except for the scratch at her elbow.

I've also got a set of paint codes for matching color for the cabinet and will start sanding it and repairing the damage on the sides in a couple of weeks.
