Have a united aztec ball bowler. Everything is in good shape, but when you bowl, it gives you a strike every time. The appropriate pins go up if your shot is off, and if you play flash or one of the bonus games it does give you different point values for a strike as opposed to a miss. You can only throw one ball and then it cycles as though it was your second shot. The kids like the fact that they can throw a gutter ball and still get a strike, but it doesn't lend much to competition!! help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jeff

Jeff,

Good morning and happy Sunday that is with one less hour of sleep. I don't know what your experience level is with restoring coin ops mechanically. So what I write is with the assumption your a beginner. I've not restored your specific model of bowler. I have a few suggestions that are universal and hold true.

My first is to CAREFULLY check your stepper units. When you manually move your stepper units up and down to they move freely? That means little or no resistance. If not that's your first issue.

Now a word of CAUTION assuming again your are a beginner.

The parts are old and delicate at times due to their age they could break. Many of the early techs used oil as a solution but it only made matters worse. This oil has now solidified and pretty much turned to glue. 91% alcohol and a small scrub brush will remove it. Do NOT use any other cleaner you can catch your game on fire.

A piece of 600 grit or above is helpful to clean your printed circuit boards and the fingers of your contacts. Never use anything lower than 400 grit. Sand then clean with alcohol twice.

Take good digital pics with your camera or phone if you decide to tear these units down so you understand how to put them back together.

Count the number of coils on the tension spring of the shaft and write them down as you will have to separate the shaft from the fingers from the printed circuit board to clean all the oil off.

Turn the game on start a game. Mark the game with a sharpie at reset for your home position.

Let me know if post cleaning if this works. PM me or respond to this with any questions or concerns.
