Street Fighter II Champion Edition Dedicated (Western MD)

just to clarify, I'm not arguing about this, I posted that it did in fact come in dedicated form (whichever of the 3 potential cabinet designs there were) and was for a period of time SOLELY dedicated. I looked at the release date, it came out in March 1992. that's when we got ours, and it was a red Z cab, as I mentioned. only later did Capcom realize what a mistake they made and THEN offered it as a kit (why they wouldn't do that for upgrades for WW initially is beyond me)

so, take your pick. there were dedicated cabs. and there were kits. this has a fucking label from Dynamo saying such. HS1, HS5, Z, big blue, whatever.

Exactly true... ops were taking apart the dedicated cabs and selling the boards off as kits and making more money by separating them out.

The reason why they offered it in different cabs was because yes... Capcom didn't really care. They had no rules about what it should look like so they just filled orders in any of the cabs that their suppliers (dynamo at the time) would fufill in.

this is some great reading who's got the bigger hard on for it being a dedicated machine vs non dedicated

LOL... I personally don't really care. I do wish that Capcom had their own signature cab... sadly they didn't care enough, nor had the internal bandwidth. Kobozono doesn't care about that stuff.

Normally I don't get ANGRY about this sort of thing, but Lyonsarcade clearly missed what I said.

That BLUE cabinet was SOLELY the DEDICATED version of SFIICE at the time.

I posted a picture of it, why? Well, I was freaking THERE when our arcade in MIAMI got the damned thing. I was THERE when Grand Prix Race - O - Rama had 18 of the stupid things. For a LONG time THAT was the ONLY dedicated machine available and THAT is a true dedicated Champion Edition, the blue cabinet I posted which is NOT the same as the Q-Sound cabinets for CPS-2 stuff.

I WORKED at the arcade around that time period, I'm not making up what I KNOW.

I also stated SFII never had a DEDICATED game, this is SFIICE NOT SFII.

Like I said, LEARN TO READ. There were NEVER SFII original dedicated games. SFIICE yes, but NOT SFII. That's what I said.

So let's recap: There is NO SFII dedicated. Never existed. Only in kit form.

Blue cabinet I posted was the FIRST SFIICE dedicated machines. They ONLY existed that way for quite some time.

Red Zs and alternate Dynamos AFTERWARDS were produced.

SFIIHF comes out in KIT form.

The end. That's the truth, there is no arguing or making up stuff on my end, so you should learn to take your anger out somewhere else because you clearly just looked over what I said. Dedicated = blue one. That was a secondary release "dedicated as kit" but I said SFII did not come out as dedicated.

Prairied: It's Takashi Kubozono, not "Kobozono." He works back in Japan for Capcom still and when I worked for Capcom it was right before when SFIII was going on test in Chicago.

I'm totally with DreamTR here. The ONLY true dedicated SF2 Champion Edition games were in the blue cabinet that he posted photos of. I can remember seeing one for the first time at a local entertainment center, and it was the ONLY place in town where you could play the game. I personally own a dedicated factory Hyperfighting (SF2: CE Hyper) and it is in a red Z-back cabinet. It has the factory stickers on it, and my wife bought it MANY years ago directly from the "Time Out" arcade that it was operated in...

For what it is worth, I LOVED the appearance of the blue dedicated Champion Edition machines, and would love to get my hands on one in original condition. Unfortunately, I don't think that it would ever happen. How many of them do you think were converted to "Hyperfighting" and then later to some other Jamma board? The cabinet sort of reminds me of the Dragon's Lair 2 factory setup. When you saw that cabinet in person, it was OBVIOUS that is was a dedicated factory machine. It look SOOO much nicer and well thought out that the various dynamo conversions...

Yeah, I agree with you. The guy made a fake factory sticker that says dynamo hs5, that game was never dedicated in a dynamo hs5. That sticker's bullshit and he's a liar, and the reason I believe all this is because you think the blue one is prettier.

The whole point of this was proving SFII was kit only. Which it is. SFIICE was released as DEDICATED BLUE CABINET ONLY until later on and the red zs and others out kitting Dynamo standards to SFIICE and later on HF as well. That's all that is being said. If you honestly think THAT is dedicated because it was second run, so be it. It's not the original run exclusive that was out.

I've been going to arcades 3-4 times a week since 1980. I worked in one in the early to mid 90s and I own one now. There is no fuzzy recollection of this. We ordered 3 Zs with CE in them (the smaller non deluxe non dedicated as they were known to us but shipped with the CE game in it) and this is just another example of that.

Also, and this is REALLY telling, if there was demand for a standard Dynamo with a sticker on it instead of the real first run CE, then this would have been sold ages go. People still want the dedicated CE. I don't even have one myself and I've been looking for one for awhile but they don't pop up here too often.

No one is saying this is "fake" but if you honestly think this came at the same time as the "real" dedicated CE that we all know about, you're very mistaken.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned that the sticker says: "STREETFIGHTER 3(HS5)"? I understand that the "HS5" is the cabinet model, but what is with the "3" designation?

I believe that's because Dynamo assumed the next Street Fighter game would logically be called Street Fighter 3. It took Capcom a while to count to 3. :)

I remember playing Champion Edition on a Dynamo red z-back, but I'd really like one of those big blue cabs someday. It's only been in the last few years I was even aware of them. Of all the games I spent so much money and time on, it's almost ridiculous for me not to have a Street Fighter 2 CE in the collection. Maybe it's time to offer up some of my games games as trade bait to find one....

To the OP...that's a good price for the game. :)
