Street Fighter II CE dedicated restore

Dang Mike that Naomi looks a lot like the Tekken 5 I just picked up!

I need to get a better side shot of it but makes me think they came from the same cab design.

I'll need the outside dimensions of the bezel. I also need to know what kind of paper you want. I have adhesive backed vinyl, adhesive backed polypropylene and photo paper.

Jeff

sure do jeff. Thanks a bunch. I'll take some measurements tomorrow morning and respond first thing.

Jeff Sorry for the delay, my sister randomly showed up from LA as a surprise visit. Early Mom bday present she claimed...

Anyways,

The dimensions are as such:

DynamoSFIICEBezeldimensions.jpg

The inner box is centered, as I measured the distance from outside box to inside box on all sides and the inner box is centered. Its kinda difficult to describe but I hope i'm making sense... Let me know if this is incoherent and i'll retry.

Let me know if you need anything else, and thank you so much man! If you need me to take a neutral picture of the grey colored cp vinyl against a white piece of paper with my nikon d40 and adjust the colors i can do that if you feel its necessary.

What kind of paper do you want? Adhesive backed or Photo?

Jeff

Jeff sorry I messed up the measurements!!

here's the updated ones, i triple checked this time! So Sorry about that

Man Nothing like a new bezel! The colors match perfectly and the machine looks like it was intended originally.

I couldn't stop there, so i took care of some little things.

after removing the ugly lock bolts from the right side of the machine (they were rusty) and i'd hit my shin on them when playing, i decided i needed to find some security bolts to plug up the holes.

Turns out the washers that were used for this thing were huge and i didn't have black anodized carrage bolts big enough to fit. I did find these and painted them with some black spray paint:

in the meantime awaiting those to dry, i got to work installing new locks:

I also sourced some coin acceptors from some pinball machine parts my father had lying around. Cleaned and oiled the bearings and parts

Here's the finished front. I just need a decal to cover the vinyl tear above the coin door to the right, it is hard to see in pictures but very noticeable in person:

I just didn't want people to think that your cab was a true 'dedicated' a la asteroids or pacman or something like that, as the 'big blue' was the only 'dedicated' cab street fighter has had.

The definition of "dedicated" is a complete game from the factory. The Dynamo HS-5 SFII:CE machines with the Street Fighter 3 labels on the back are dedicated machines.

Whether or not a cabinet has been designed specifically for a game is irrelevant, because that has nothing to do with whether or not it came as a complete game from the factory. It is funny that you should mention Asteroids (Lunar Lander cabinet) and Pac-Man (Galaxian cabinet) as examples of what you call "true dedicated".

I still want that sweet ass dinosaur pinball in the corner. :p

sorry the pinballs (besides the Star trek next gen) are all my fathers machines, they're his till he dies. I can't sell or move them without him losing his cool. I would never sell them anyways, i'd trade a kidney before.

The only machine which is mine and my restore is the STTNG machine i picked up from an old lady's garage about 7 years ago when i was 17 yrs old for 300 dollars. Aparently a prior owner sawed the head from the body with a jigsaw because he or she couldnt be bothered to inspect what the hinges are for... when i got it home i immediately removed the old sawed up arms and installed a spare pair my dad had from a Theater of magic he didnt use, and i lifted the head and the playfield was in good shape side from the years of dust of storage in the garage.

so thats how i have one pinball that's only really mine. my dad still doesn't believe i picked up a STTNG for 300.

yea i guess the thought of my machine as a dedicated might make cyberdan upset but i'm not worried about his opinion on what his definition of dedicated is. As far as i am concerned and almost everyone else when this topic comes up (which it has numerous times in the past even on this forum) the dynamo SFIICE came from the factory like this, therefore i will restore it to factory.

What's the finish on your machine? Is it high pressure laminate (e.g., Formica)? Vinyl? Paint?

I wonder if the machine was refinished by an operator at some point. All the dedicated SFII:CE Dynamo HS-5 machines I've seen had the typical Dynamo black pressure-applied paper-thin plasticky sheeting that has a tendency to peel off prematurely.

hey brother, i'm really not sure what the difference is btwn all these types of materials but i can say this:

from what i can tell the sucker has never been restored, theres an ultra thin vinyl like grey material that feels very smooth to the touch but i can see from the tear area to the right of the coin door that its ultrathin. behind it is this light grey like paper and underneath it i can see like composite wood type material. I'm not sure if this helps, but if i recall formica material its usually very hard to the touch, this is not like that at all. it feels soft to the touch like a thin sheet of vinyl paper against composite wood

Ah, that sounds like the black stuff normally found on Dynamo HS machines. Maybe they offered them in various colors.

Here's a black one:
