This is the wrong hobby to be in if you cannot believe how much certain boards go for, haha. Get used to thinking that a lot.

I've seen that board go for a lot less a couple years back. 450 is a huge price difference from what I remember. I guess my CPS3 board just raised the value of my cabinet :)

I don't see why this game is so expensive. The SFIII series is seen as a failure. The SFII series was hugely successful in comparison. Street Fighter III was so bad the sprites and dynamics of the game were not used in any other title. I'd much rather play EX than SFIII. Oh, and the music was terrible. Almost as bad as MVSCAP2. I don't want funk, jazz or hiphop in SF. Ewwww.

3rd Strike is one of the most beloved SF games in FGC circles.

For competitive players Third Strike is considered the pinnacle of the street fighter series. Most technical of the series for sure.

SFIII may be loved by those within a certain age group but not by those who grew up with the SF series. Within all the installments, SFIII is one of my least favorite.

Pinnacle? After Third Strike what did Capcom do with the series? If you sale a rock and people buy the rock...you make more rocks. How long did we go without a sequel? During the time SFIII (was never upgraded to SFIII 3rd Strike) was released in the arcade only one machine could be found local (Corpus Christi). It was replaced soon after. The game was overshadowed by better fighting games. It just wasn't fun. It didn't make any money. I'd consider the game a cult classic at best. It just puzzles me is all. Props to the buyer and seller. Happy gaming.

I'm the buyer of this board. If you do your research, this is a good price for a full kit sans box. Unless you've been living under a rock, the price of PCBs over the last decade has gone up considerably. It's just the way it is.

As far as liking the game, to each his own. I grew up in the arcades with SF2 and played all three iterations of III. While I'll still play ST over 3S any day of the week, it doesn't take away from the amazing balance that 3S has. It's the last of the great 2D fighters IMO, and has a home waiting for it beside my Hyper Anniversary setup.

man, trust me... you're totally wrong :D the game didn't success well in arcades but it's the most technical and well-balanced 2D vs beat'em up of all time

The technicality probably put people off more than anything, but to me and my friends, 3rd Strike is a masterpiece. :) The urban aesthetic and hip hop soundtrack is very "new millenium".

All the super arts and parrying and the technical depth is what makes 3rd Strike feel so rich to play, and if I were stranded on a desert island with only one SF game, I'd easily take 3rd Strike over any of the early Street Fighters admittedly, even tho I love the SFII titles (and I've played more World Warrior than any other arcade SF).

As for the thing about age groups- I'm a 21-year-old with similar age friends, and most of my 20-something friends dislike the SFII games. Step a few years forward and my friends in their late 20s/early 30s aren't even aware of SF III's existence, the SFII games are Street Fighter to them.

It is what it is. Best wishes to the buyer tho, what an awesome game.
