Hi guys,
I've got a CPS1 Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition I'm trying to fix a graphics glitch on, the custom on the C board appears to be fine, I've found 1 dead mask ROM and replaced it, however I'm still not 100% there.

I'm wondering if it's possible the 2 PALs on the C board have died, they are extremely scratched up (to the point I can't even read the label on one of them) so I'm thinking these are suspect. Are these dumped and able to be tested/programmed onto a replacement chip?

For reference the chips in question are labelled
ICC1 (I can't even see what type of PAL this is, the silkscreening is completely scratched off)
C532 (says PALCE16V6H-15 and underneath 210CW59)

Thanks

Nice! Thanks caius

I did see a few different PALs from SF2 dumped on JAMMArcade but couldn't see these ones specifically, good to know they're there.

Do these need to be reprogrammed onto a replacement PAL of the same type (onto an NOS chip) or can a GAL replacement be used? Edit: Nevermind I see that a .JED file is designed specifically for non volatile devices like a GAL. Just need to find the equivalent replacement now.

Stoog - I've tried the B and C on a known working A board (from my Final Fight) and the same issue occurs, so it's a B or C fault - unfortunately I don't have another C board to test from an SF2 and FF uses a fairly different C board, but I've gone over the connections to the custom and they seem to be fine.

Given these 2 PALs look dodgy I'm certainly willing to risk replacing them if they can be replaced to see if this helps before assuming the custom is dead.

if you reprogram 4 of the boot roms for that Final Fight there is a version that uses the 21 C board.

Send me a PM and see if i can find the info again

Thats how i worked out if i had a bad B/C board when i was repairing my FF awhile back

You have to burn the .JED onto GAL16V8 devices

Most likely the C.P.S.-B-21 on your C-BOARd is faulty, these ASICs are very prone to failure.

Yeah - and if this is the case I believe these can be obtained from dead CPS2 boards as well as some other CPS1 boards, so finding a replacement won't be too difficult. But given the cost of replacing the PALs and the fact they already look damaged, I'm willing to give this a shot first.

Is that the bootleg version where you can play as the enemies? I'm actually tempted to burn the EPROMs and GAL so I can play that anyway since it's pretty cool.
