I just picked up a Street Fighter 1. I know button 1-5 is on the jamma. Button 6 is on a 3 pin cn5. Now on my board I have an unpopulated 10pin cn5 is this the same?

Interesting indeed! Yours is a board I haven't seen before...it's the early pneumatic pcb yet its missing the sensors. But I suppose you could find those parts if you desire. Anyway, later versions of the pcb do not have the space for the pneumatic button sensors.

I'm just looking to hook it up to jamma and use the button on my Blast City. Thing is im missing a punch and a kick unless it's a 4 button game?

I guess when I get home I can start bridging things

i would put it in switch test and ground each pin of the kick harness connector to see what is what

edit: might want to meter the voltages on all of the pins first just to be safe. i'm not sure how those pneumatic control panels worked.

What is the kick harness connector? From my quick search it's cn5 is a 3 pin and I have an unpopulated cn5 with a possible 10 pin. My board does not have the pneumatic sensor and it wasn't remove as it look factor stil

The original SF was either pneumatic or 6-button. I know that info doesn't help much with your bigger question, but just confirming, it was not 4-button.

:edit: Does this help at all?

Ok so I just need to located the missing punch and kick button on my pcb. With the pneumatic pcb you can still use the jamma for some of the punch/kick. I'm just unsure if it's all 6

According to the picture, buttons 4 and 5 for both players go to the JAMMA. Button 6 for both players goes to CN5. Just like you said in your OP. JAMMA and CN5 join at a single connector that interfaces with the control panel. If you don't have those original connectors, you can probably bypass them and just direct wire, the only thing you really need is the correct connector for CN5 (although there are ways around that also).

Is this a dedicated SF cab? It looks like a candy. If it's not an original dedicated, are you permanently "dedicating" the cab to be og SF?

:edit: sorry, I missed a few details, I see it's in a blast.

:edit edit: I see... you don't know where CN5 is. I'm full of useless advice today. :\

I just bought a stand alone pcb. Button 1+2 is punch and 3+4 is kick. Button 5 does nothing and 6 still need to be located. The other problem I'm having is the pcb does not sync with my psone LCD testbench. I have to wait until Wednesday until I get access to the clubhouse again. Sigh 1st world problem 😅

Where you at so far w/ your board?

let me know maybe I can help.
I own all 4 variations of these boards.
(I own 7 SF1 Boards)

Do not use the 3 pin. Thats not your Board.

If you want epic Stereo sound also on CN6:
9 Speaker 2-
10 Speaker 2+

That's how I am running on my Deluxe Cab.
Sounds Great.

@ Biomech011 wow 7 boards. You sir are the best. Here I thought cn6 was strictly sound. It did cross my mind why there was 10 pin for sound. I will have to test Wednesday when I get access to the room. I will have to make my own harness as I liken to get this going for a tournament of power type of thing. Player playing SF1,2,3 to find who is the best 😄. Can you drop anymore knowledge bomb on between the 4 different revision?

Sure.

PCB #1 is the Pneumatic Board.

PCB #2 Is the Pneumatic Board w/o the
Pneumatic features like yours.

PCB # 3 is the other board shown Also a 3 stack PCB like 1 & 2.

PCB # 4 is a 2 stack Board.

Hit me up anytime w/ Question.

Englishtear. Sending you a Vid sir.

I played a pneumatic SF1 at echelon mall in jersey BITD. Maybe it was because I was a weak kid or the game was abused, but it was tough to hit those things for the stronger attacks. Would love to play one again now just for the experience.

Wow, that is some great info and a cool collection documenting the evolution of that first game in the series.

If anyone's interested...I think I've posted it before, but it's some great history on the game..."I am Street Fighter" is a great watch. As it relates to this thread, around 19:38, it goes into SF's (SF1) place in the world of video games at the time, followed by an explanation of tweak to the mechanics that made SF2 so revolutionary.

I remember a showcase SF1 at the local Family Fun Center (miniature golf, arcade). 6 buttons...I had no concept of what that even was. I remember some older kid playing the game, and I was waiting for him to get off of it so I could try. It was early in the day and there weren't a lot of people in the arcade yet. He finally got off the game, I waited a minute or two, and went and put my quarter in. Again, I had no idea what was going on, couldn't even really get my head around the stacked life bars. The kid came back and watched me for a minute. I'd like to say I was inately good at the game, but sadly no that wasn't the case. The kid put his quarter in, soundly thrashed me for 3 or 4 of my quarters, and I walked away in disgust. That is my earliest memory of Street Fighter.

I didn't know there was a 2 stack board. Do you have any pictures of it, Bio?
