The same 2D (or is it 3D?) side scroll perspective (where the game scrolls diagonal from lower left to upper right) that makes the game difficult to control... think about it...

This. So much this.

it's funny that people take issue with LCDs in the arcade games, but have no qualms with the plausibility of a top secret, MK Ultra-created, 11-year old bald super soldier with telekinesis that's able to travel between dimensions

think about it this way, guys ... the universe of Stranger Things takes place in an alternate reality where arcade manufacturers were the first to implement LCD displays on a grand commercial scale

:)

Don't know if there are any D&D guys on here, but I basically played video games and D&D non-stop from age 11-16. The opening D&D scene wasn't perfect either, but it got enough right for me to be appreciative of it. And the coolest thing is that my 15 and 20 year old kids now have a frame of reference for what my childhood was like, without all the supernatural stuff of course. My 15 year old actually now kind of appreciates the arcade games, and wants to add a Dig Dug to my (our) collection. For me, that alone is worth any misrepresentations of 80s reality. Long live the 80s, and long live Stranger Things!
