LCD displays = easier to film.
Flicker and roll is one thing with an old movie or TV show but in today's HD it would be a seizure-fest for viewers.
Ummm - 6 spots for a high score name on Dig Dug??
They could have dealt with it in post-production. The show has shown numerous tube TVs which would have the same issue.
Uh... Like... comp in screens on top of CRTs? You realize what a huge waste of money that is, right? I do this stuff for a living and even I'm like... just use LCDs because 99% of the world won't even notice.
There's so much that has to go into preparing the scene for fake CRT screens... dealing with camera tracks, reflections, etc... all a huge pain in the ass that's totally avoided by just having LCD screens instead.

It was still nice to see the environment again. Although the machines had LCDs, I thought they did a great job capturing the time, essence, and atmosphere of the arcade that we grew up in. It brought back many memories for me. I also digged the Z28. That wasn't accurate either. It has fenders from a 78-79 but the dash is a 80-81. That didn't ruin the nostalgia for me even though it wasn't 100% accurate. It brought back another flood of memories.
