Looks like something to do with the NVRAM write protect?

From the "Ranger Chronicles" ->

The Stargates that I have seen also have a little card plugged in near the power connector, with an upside down chip. This was to repair a failing in the original board runs for the CMOS ram. This was fixed on the REV B board.

I figured that was the same chip I had to jumper on a Defender. the game was unable to exit test mode; the jumper basically tells the game the coin door is always open so the CMOS writes.

this little board might explain why Stargate freaks out in the settings portion if the batteries die or are missing, it creates a CMOS corruption that locks the game up. new batteries and a power cycle or two corrects it. I've never seen any other Williams game do this, aside from that Defender thing.
