I have a 1993 Gottlieb Doctor Dude, and for the life of me cant figure this out. There was a batter holder in the cabinet no wired up to anythint. There is also a battery holder on the MPU so I put 3 AA in the battery holder and no go!!! Everytime I turn it on it revert back to factor settings. I also noticed the build in battery storage wires are not connect to anything. How would I go about getting battery to work on this machine...PLEASE HELP!

Also the left side of the bulbs are out...I have tested the bulbs and they are good. Is there a fuse I am missing to make them light up?

Just an update I installed fresh batterys in the holder that I connected to the red and black wire coming out of the machine, but still no luck....for some reasoni it is not seeing the batteries. Please help!

nvm, I was hooking up the positive to the negative..even though the positive shows black when tracing back and red is negative.

Ipdb Information on Dr Dude with a link to a manual is here:

The repair guide for that era machine is here:

I am not familiar with this model, however it sounds like you have a remote battery holder that was not installed correctly. The MPU needs teh batteries to hold the settings.

Yes there is a fuse for the GI Lights. Check in the manual or repair guide for the location.

Yes stupid me, I had the red as positive which would make sense right!! But it should have been negative...so that has been corrected and the game holds high scores now. BUT I still cannot AD any settings on the setup. I wonder if the closet button to me is bad, cause the cycle through setup works fine, and so does the up and down position of the middle one, but that darn accept button does not function, any ideas on how to troubleshoot it?
