so I have a single car garage that currently only gets used for storage.

It has a window, but I have wooden blinds on it.

I was thinking about turning this into my little game room.

I have spent a ton of time restoring my MK1 and I'm about to put repro artwork on it. I am worried about heat/moisture during the winter causing damage and was curious if anyone else had experience of advice on this subject.

The garage also has two vents that lead to the outside. I suppose they could be sealed.

HOA won't allow for a window A/C.

I've had many games out in the garage for several years without any issues any time of year. Althogh summer can get really hot out there. Which way does your garage door face? Towards the afternoon sun? I suggest getting a garage door insulation kit! it will reduce the temp in the garage in summer and keep it a little warmer in winter. Close the window blind! keep prying eyes out! Keep the area sprayed for Black Widow spiders!!! You don't want them nesting in or under your games or they will be everywhere in a short amount of time!

I would definitely worry about artwork on the cabinet, bezel and control panel warping from the heat. When I lived in Phoenix I had some posters where the image on the poster actually started to flake off the paper. Not cheap posters either, Ferrari factory dealership posters. They were in a garage as well.

That's what I'm scared of =/

My garage door faces to the north.

Like I said I haven't had any issues. insulate your door and it will help alot. Your garage faces North so that helps too.

Do you actually play your games in there or are you using it more as storage?

Games in the Garage are fine. I've had games in my garage for 10+ years with no problems. They do get a bit dusty, and the plastic will dry out quicker (i.e. become more brittle), but other then that, they will be fine.

If you're worried about fading, then cover the window with something dark.

As for the humidity in the winter, unless the cabs are directly exposed to rain, you'll be fine.

AZ is so dry it's reasonably safe. I had DSG's arcade games in my garage from April through early August last year, and they ended up none the worse for it.

I do play the ones I still have out there. I used to have 25 games out there but I'm down to 11 games in the garage since I moved to a bigger house. During the summer I put a fan out there too while I'm playing or working on something. Makes it a little more comfortable.

They should be fine to store, but I would not be firing them up in that heat...

Yeah, I am just wondering about running an extra line of my A/C unit. Only opening the vent when I expect to have people over or want to play myself.

If you are going to run them in that heat, I would remove the back doors.. I still would have a hard time running mine in extreme heat..
