Anyone have any tips? I've got a few hundred loose carts and would like them accessible for the kids. They've recently been initiated to 8 bit atari and love it. I was thinking bins or boxes, but would love any suggestions.

I have about 300+ Atari carts, 100+ intellivision carts and a handful of Colecovision carts in a few stackable $5 Walmart storage drawers. Seems to work ok.

I grab the tops (or lids) of bulk paper boxes from work. Each of them holds about 60 carts, works great for free storage, and you can stack 'em.

One of these would be sweet:

Doesn't hold enough carts though...

I was going to suggest 3-4 of these :D When I first got my 2600, it came with one of these full of games and a bunch of others just loose.

Isn't there an Atari 2600 cart you can buy and load/program with all the ROMs?

(Doesn't make it as cool "old school", but definitely more organized and complete...)

Interesting. The harmony cart might be a good option, I guess it depends on how many games it can hold, or I just need a few SD cards.

Anyone have one of these? How is the menu and functionality?

AFAIK, you can fit ALL of them on there! ;)

I do not know what they are called but we always called them "flats" in my family. Think of a box about 12x18, perhaps a bit larger, with 2" to 3" high sides. You see them at nurseries to move and hold a number of small flowers or plants (some use plastic). I have seen bulk can goods in some of the discount groceries use them to hold 18 to 24 canned goods. A bunch of them are then stacked and tied to build out a pallet. It just occurred to me, think of the a hot box top turned upside down. Anyway, these are what I use. You can stand all the carts up so the end labels are visible, carts are easy to organize, and several can be stacked, stored, and easily moved.

Aren't real carts more fun than a multi cart with a chip in it?
Real cabs are more fun than Mame too :D
Some people just like the convenience, and the space saving aspects.
Plus you get to play all of those games that are impossible to find, prototypes, homebrews, etc...

I used to use a few of these (picture) until I built my wall unit and a couple of these:

You can (barely) see the 4 slot storage cubes behind my attached pic that is going to be rebuilt. It is not all 4 slot slide together storage cubes, I made large open cubes out of the 4 slotters for extra storage. Don't have a clear pic of it at this moment.
