Watching storage wars Texas tonight.

They dug out a Multi game - passed it off as a ms. pacman.

1250.00 - value? for a reasonably decent multi. Seems high.

1200 seemed about right to me if they put in the correct overlay. Cocktails multis sell high around here.
Who the hell was the toddler giving him numbers though? Before he even looked at the game he was spatting off 500 to get it running? Also, how the hell did he not see it was a multi when it came in?

Also, if you look carefully, there was a 25 inch monitor in the back of the unit. Bet the buyer thought it was simply a broken tv. Lol trashed.

Saw that too. I first noticed the multiple buttons on the control panels, and then when they powered it up, I saw the multigame style screen.

I mentioned it to my wife, but she rolled her eyes at me.

Also thought the $500 quote to fix was off.

ArcadeMaze!

I'd offer around that...

...until I found out it was on a reality show. Then I'd offer $10 out of principle.

I could see it going for 1200 if it was in real good shape to the right buyer. Seems a little high though. Yea when I saw the extra buttons I figured it had been converted to a multi system. They did show the boot up screen for it showing it was in fact one.

I could also see 500 to get it running if you paid a retail shop to do it. Hell a nos monitor and install could be that.

It seemed shady to me to be the first thing out of his mouth. 500? Like what makes him think that? How does he know it wouldnt just be a fuse? Meh fuck it, he was told to say it probably. Lol

Just watched it, and $1200? Really? Really? I know people ask that, but do people pay that? I am lurking on CL, ebay and several forums and to be honest, I just don't see them going for that kind of money. I could be way off base here, but even when buying from a retail store, something new, is that market huge? At those prices, I will toss a 60-1 in every POS and toss it up for $1200, which I am assuming most of the jackasses on CL do. Again, I see the same games for sale week in and week out...

Show is as phony as any other reality show. You guys know that. Watch a good movie instead.

They were FLYING off my local CL just last year for around 1150 in a midway style. Now, the last one I saw was going for 850. Big drop. However, the last couple multis I made before Christmas, I was being bombarded by requests for a cocktail style. I probably could have built and sold one easily to any of those people for a grand.

A guy near me who cleans up and sells games said he was going to build extra multi cabs before the Christmas because that is what most seemed to want. I want to say he sold a few of the cocktails for less then that and people were quick to buy them up. He should have asked more for them.

First thing i saw was the control panel and I knew it was a custom cabinet. Not an original, because of the style and black melamine. On top of that Pac-Man doesn't have that many buttons and namco uses the wood grain style look over the black melamine look really.

$1200.......no, I don't think a 60 in 1 custom built multicade is worth that, maybe 700-$800 Only an officially factory built Multicade like from Midway or whatnot is worth something like that. I like Moe, but I think that guy he brought it to was not entirely the expert appraiser he was looking for. He certainly didn't have an eye for detail, even though considering hes probably had more years looking at them than I have.

If you'll notice, he said most retail or "nice" cocktails can get that. Not "every POS cab".

My boss wouldn't sell a nice Midway cocktail multi for under $1800, and yes - people pay that quite often. Retail is way different from E-bay, CL, etc. Most people with money to burn don't bother with big-item internet purchases like this. They want reliability, warranties, and delivery/setup/support - and a phone # or shop to go to for face-to-face contact. They're not about to pay top dollar to someone selling out of his garage...

I agree with you guys. My wife was getting sick of me saying it's clearly a multi. Also 1200 is a fair price if someone will pay it. (you know you would take it) This was far less disturbing that the Auction Hunters were they ((restored)) a Ms. Pac with Vynil side art and the guy paid $1350.00 for it...
I call B.S. the guy even knew enough to point out the crap side art.

Don't forget......that was a bastardized Pac-Man cabinet, too.

Anyone notice they never said multi just kept saying pacman even when they turn it on and games had to load then must have selected ms. pac.

Exactly. They wouldn't have ever talked about it being a multi because the shows producers wouldn't have wanted to shine a spotlight on it because of game licenses.

I have yet to see this Texas version of storage wars... but I wonder...

Will the ever run across a unit full of Moppets? I'm pretty sure one exists out there.

With a bootleg or hacked Ms Pac board (it was running Ms Pac Attack). Anyway, to show how real these shows are, the guy (Nathan Barnett, aka Keith Apicary), didn't actually even buy the game, even though they showed money changing hands.
