I'm fed up with the posts of people informing of CL posts or FS posts for games. Don't you realize that in the local areas there is almost universally one or two KLOVers that regularly scour CL, etc. for deals? In Michigan, that number is more like 50!

Why in the world would you post to advertise someone else's stuff? All it does is make it harder for locals to get deals and drive up prices! There has been more than one thread posting someone's disgust that a FS post became an informal auction when a seller got alot of responses to an ad quickly.

Why does this happen? Because someone here posts the "I saw this on CL" here! I've had it happen to me 4 times in the last 60 days on items that I saw while doing the WORK to look for stuff via searches.

Thank you for causing someone you don't know to either miss out on a game they have been looking for or paying more than they otherwise would have. C'mon people, buy a frickin' clue (does my irritation come through on this...I hope so).

If a game becomes an "auction" then blame the seller, not the person that posted it here. I would rather see a game wanted by several people than have someone part it out because it didnt sell. This may suck for you but at least it shows the hobby is alive and well. You cant expect sellers to hold games either. There are so many flaky buyers that never show. You said you were out of town anyway. You have to be ready to go in a moments notice. You are expecting way too much from CL sellers. I know it sucks but that is just the way it is.

come buy em from us in beautiful rockford, il !!! :D

yeah but to a point i agree, its a bummer when the cats out of the bag and then your offering more for something then it was originally posted fs for....

thank god around me theres not too many collectors so competition isnt too tough..

now in chicago, that was another story...

I guess that your "reply times" for the CL ads you're responding to are too slow? Personally, I've seen things posted here that I appreciated seeing here first as a "heads up" but maybe the competition level is pretty fierce where you're at.

Same here noone really competes for the stuff I want. I like the Cl posts in fact Lostarcade&Krajkerjac helped me score a Lost world boardset for 30 dollars in AZ. I would have never saw it becuase I live in MN ;-). The sellers in these situations are to blame when I sell somthing first person calls gets it.

I thought I was helping. I thought that most of you would want to know if there is a good deal that maybe you hadn't seen and it would be better for one of you to get it instead of someone picking it up and gutting it and throwing the good parts away to make a mame cab or something (no offense to mame cab makers). Also maybe some people don't watch CL all day and want to see if a good deal pops up. I wrote an automated system so I usually know about new posts within minutes and not everybody has that.

Also if you live somewhere else maybe you can find a friend where the good game is to pick it up for you.

Maybe we should just post them after a certain time limit like 1 day. If you couldn't get it by then maybe someone else wants it.

It doesn't matter to me if I post them or not.

You helped me I say keep posting them people see them anyways.

I don't really see anything wrong with posting stuff like that. But me personally I wouldn't post up the stuff unless I'm sure i don't want it, just for others to see. Who cares anyways if people are posting stuff. you give other people who don't know about it a chance to get it.

There are lots of collectors who are not on KLOV. Don't think the only people buying games are here. There are a lot of people constantly checking the ads. If it's a great deal, it's not going to last very long.

Hmmm... this thread is missing something...

nice cantera stone fountain. i sell those for a living :)

Honestly, this is the only "collectors" forum I've ever been on that allows live auctions and live Craigslist listings...unless it's your own item for sale. It creates increased prices and increased competition and animosity among members. I guess it's something that's been tolerated and encouraged for years. I guess like "honor among thieves"...if someone "lays claim" to something, everyone else backs off. Well, had I done that, my 720 would be sitting in a non-KLOVer's place because who "spoke" for it forgot to bid...and I didn't. I'm not really big on the posting of live auctions...because if there's something you want, then you're looking for it already...and if you bid on something just because "it was a good deal", then you probably took an item away from someone who REALLY wanted it.

I appreciate the fact that people post things here. I'm on CL more than a few times a day, but I can't find everything. People list things differently on CL. It's not like I can put a search on "arcade" and find everything listed. Most people use "arcade", but some use video game, some use game, some use the title of the game and because they never make mention of my key word, I might not pull it in search.

We're all obviously on this board because we love games. You can only have it one way, either games are cheap when you want to buy or expensive when you want to sell. You can't have both at the same time. It just doesn't work that way.

If you aren't using a craigslist mult-search tool, then why are you in this hobby? You'll probably never find an Aztarac in Amarillo, TX but you might in Boise, ID. It's the same thing as somebody posting information posts. If you don't have craigslist set up to give you RSS feeds to your phone either, you are going to miss out. Any more secrets you need to know?

Personally I think you all should be on your own. I mean, setup your RSS feeds... Save your searches, etc. I have a small network of friends who know what I'm looking for and I know what they are looking for. If you don't know how to use these tools your SOL. I hate it even more when some asshat here from California tells everyone what was just listed on Detroit craigslist. I mean, stay the hell out of my area unless you plan on getting in your car to get it!!! If your a surrounding state and have a way to get the machine then I don't have a problem with you searching my craigslist.

I can't do anything about it so please pass some cheese to go with my whine you asshats!

I definitely agree with the sentiment that the MI Cl is brtual in terms of the competition. I even use a program to monitor RSS feeds now.

You said it, it's a hobby. This is not a business for me and for many others on this site. Therefore I haven't set my life up around trying to find every game ever listed. I'm on this site because the amount of information on here is fantastic. That doesn't mean I'm going to buy every game listed on CL, but I'm sure someone else might. If someone else finds a good deal but doesn't want it and passes the info into a spot where collectors are gathered and looking for good deals, I don't see how thats a problem. It's the same way with antiques, baseball card collecting, train collecting, and probably every other hobby.
