I sold this game to a freind whos FATHER sold it out from under her, along with a few other items. It was being stored at his house as he kicked her out. If you know where the game is, I would like to get it back for her. (I will re-imburse you). WE HAVE the KEY to the coin door to prove it was ours. Thank you.

So as a parent of children/young people from 4 to 21, one of which (18) is not welcome to live at home due to certain chemical addictions, I am curious on the circumstances of why she was kicked out.

The terms on my son were to follow the house rules or move out and take belongings with him as I am not a storage unit. That being said, I may dispose of the left items wether by trash or sale (I am actually still storing some things, but it's only at my discretion).

Don't take this as me taking sides, every situation is different, but having a key is hardly a title to ownership of a machine (and easily changed for under $2). The parent/child situation is probably way more complex than what would be explainable here. But trying to post addresses and act as if the dad is a villain seems a little extreme. If I were the buyer a said centipede game, I would tell you to take your issue up with the seller. After all, how many of us KLOV'ers have bought off CL without knowing the history or story behind what we are buying? Selling "abandoned" items is a pretty common practice with storage units and so on. Did she have some agreement with her parents on storage?

Another thought, people get arrested for endangerment when they post online with real contact info (lots of crazy's out there).
Take the following story as an example (but a few orders of magnitude more serious, would have thought was funny as hell except the results weren't).

easily changed yes but to have a key to a machine that isnt in your possession is kind of rare unless you sold the game and kept a key or forgot one. If its in a storage unit and its indeed a stolen unit the owner of the storage unit is liable whether that be the renter or the actual property owner and they can be charged with theft. Especially if youre caught trying to liquidate this stuff. Unless there is some weird deal in the contract that clears liability of this, stolen property is stolen property either way.

The devil is in the details. What agreement did the daughter have with her dad? We can assume all we want, but if there is some legal issue, take it to magistrate court, maybe this has been done. For a storage unit, most all have the right to sell contents if rent isn't paid, items become "abandoned" at a written-in-contract pre-determined time after a unit becomes delinquent in rent.

As far as keys, all my machines are keyed alike, tons of keys available in the wild as it's a standard common HAPP lock. You have a good point on left over keys as a reason, so why would it be strange for the sellers daughter to have a key that was "left behind".

I am curious on the details of this, I am NOT taking sides.

Sooo.... just curious, but, why not get another Centipede? You said in the opening post you would "re-imburse" people i.e you have the money, so why not just buy another? Is there some kind of nostalgia and or sentimental attatchment to this specific machine?

The short, her father and girlfriend are drug users and neglect their younger children.

I am married to her fathers ex-girlfriend.

The long....

He has 4 kids, The oldest Ashley (19) the person who owns the game. She moved in with us, at 16 because she had gotten into an arument with her dad who then beat her. She had been living with us for the past two years.
She moved out to share an apartment with a friend, that after a few months did not work out. Her friend kept inviting people over that were not respecting her stuff/things... In the two years things between her and her dad had settled down, and they were talking. She asked her dad if she could store some of her things in his garage, she kept the key with her. He eaven picked it all up for her, and she moved back home. Things were fine for a while, but she decided she could not live there, and moved to her grandma's house to escape the drama of their house. He had no problems with the stuff being there. Not only is her stuff now on CL, but her Aunts things are being sold as well.

My wife and I are pettioning the courts for more/full custody of their/our shared daughter Alex (10). Because of his and his girlfriends drug use, his anger issues, and violent behavior (mostly toward his girlfriend). Alex has been living with us for the most part, we just want to make it offical, as he is a bit unpredicable.

They have two younger children, when the second to youngest was born, CPS was brought into thir life as the mom tested positive for meth. And it took over a year to get them (the two that lived there) back. Now they have another, about 4 months or so.

He's a dirtbag, honestly. It's just gotten alot worse the last few years.

The Sherriff's department says it's a civil issue and will not help unless it involves clothing/medication.

Funny thing is the game works, you have to open the coin door and pull out the interlock to turn it on. I rigged the game this way so her roomate and roomates friends would not just be able to flip the switch and play when she was not home/at work.

A little, it's her first game... She's a good kid, I just want to help her out. I put a new CPO on it, rebuilt the trackball, etc... and it works 100%

Anyone have one for sale cheap/local, in good working condition?
