Well,
In the midst of me building the arcade, last night I had both the battle zone and my ast deluxe pulled from the wall (starting to wallboard). I decided to cross the monitor harness' to see what each game does on the other monitor. I am now positive that the blooming is totally monitor related on not in the game board.

So, now - where to go from here. I already put a cap kit in it as well as a high voltage diode. It takes about 10-20 minutes before it really becomes noticable. It also shakes and jitters a bit, sometimes it will actually "pop" back to original size for a couple seconds, but then go back up to the larger size again.
These monitors cant be that omplicated - what am I missing? In the HV section or the deflection board?

I'm not an expert (and I didn't even sleep at a holiday inn express last night), but blooming is usually caused by an issue with the HV. Temperature related problems are often caused by cold solder joints. I'd check out the HV section and rebuild it. There are a couple of caps in there too if I remember correctly.
cheers
/Tim

When I discharged it I didnt use a hv probe. HOWEVER, that was before I did the HV diode, and I did the cap kit at the same time.
In other words, I havent discharged it since I put in the new diode.
