I'd love to be able to go, but the next 2 weeks is insanely busy for my (national car meet in town, unique work day on Friday, HS reunion, going away party for a buddy moving to NC, prepping for a vacation). I'll try to make it, but I give it 5% chance.

I went to see Steve when he was doing the same thing in Chicago. Super cool guy who spent a lot of time with the fans. The event was a ton of fun, I highly recommend stopping by and meeting him when he's in town. Tell him Don from Chicago said hi, we went to the Bears/Seahawks game together.

Great to see this happening at 1up. I have several friends out in Denver/CO area and they were not real arcade people- in fact they have always thought I was kind of crazy for being into them so much. As it turns out, they have been to 1up many times and it seems to be one of their favorite bar spots in Denver. I am really looking forward to going there next time I am out in CO. I will pass this along to a few friends out there.

Thanks for helping make 1up a success Exidy!

Ok..so the guys is good enough to get to the DK kill screen. Explain to me why i should care? Why would I want the autograph of someone who's only claim to fame is beating a 30 yr old video game?

Sounds like you don't (want the autograph). Personally, I feel weird getting the signature of anyone now that I'm an adult. That said, it would be cool to attend the event to talk with the guy or see him play. I would if I were in the area.

I personally, am still working on my claim to fame.

hey jon, so is this only till 8, per the facebook event, or will steve be there afterward. theoretically i will be working till six or seven so i don't know if i'd be able to get there in time to watch steve play.

...

There is suppose to be some donkey kong school sometime too.

i know we're suppose to have dinner friday night, so ill tell you more if you call me saturday morning.

i would argue that his claim to fame is the king of kong movie in which he is a main character and the celebrity status that follows such an event. all the personal appearances only enhance that fame. the guy is a legit celebrity but i am in the "who cares" camp regarding almost all "famous" people.
