Steve Wiebe Performing Live in Chicago! Jan 15th!

Just picked up 4 tickets to the show. Ya, the idea of a cert would be kick butt. Not the idea of the cert being special , but I would get mine autographed. SWEET........ Heck I would even design them and print them up if I could get my 4 tickets free... :) wink, wink!

yo! just saw that come through. we are going to have to have two sessions at this point! so many people have been into this, its really been positive! i think the certificat would be cool too, we will see if i can get them done. thanks for the offer, i have a guy right now, but i will keep you in mind for sure.

make sure to say hi when you are here at the event. its turning out to be way more then i thought it would be!

we sold out today, but i have saved a few just in case klov'rs or other friends want to go. if you want to come PM me your email and i will send you a link to paypal.

Jim, the day was great and me and Jen had a super time. I think all in all, everything went well and you did a great job of running the show. Now whats the scoop on the red tents? Also, my offer is $150 for the Toobin.......LOL
Steve Wiebe is a very nice guy to talk to and I will use the the stuff he talked about today. How did he end up doing today as far as a score?
Last question, what was the documentary that me and the wife was part of? Will we ever see it?

Agreed, it was a great time... I'll be sure to stop by again next time I'm in Chicago. (maybe next month)

Steve was great & I had a lot of fun w/ DK 101... can't wait for my T-shirt and diploma!

Congrats on a blow-out affair.

Damn, Wiebe looks like he's aged 20 years from the last pic I saw him! Must be all that stress from playing Donkey Kong and trying to get the world record again ;)

Oh man, I'm SO sorry... I wasn't in the killing mood, I just looked like it. Maybe I'll take a happier pic of my face and you can photoshop it in over that ugly mug right there :)

EDIT: My wife just said "you look like a floating head of anger" and was nearly in tears laughing so hard.

Any word on how Wiebe did with his attempts?

and Dr Pants .. I couldn't help but notice the "media" that was covering the events that day. are there any plans for any of that?

And for those of you that weren't there, Steve stepped us through his style of the game and even had a powerpoint slideshow to go along with it. I wasn't sure if the crowd was going to be DK enthusiasts or a bunch of hipsters -- turns out it was both(and a good mix). Was a great event all around!

His DK101 class was very basic. Steve is a very nice guy to speak to. He really aged since King of Kong. He just turned 42 about two weeks ago.

man... i really need to change my handle... combine a late night sign up with a jim beam influence = a lame and weird handle...

anyways...

we had a lot of coverage and had and many interviews. i will post links to when they are up. also, we had a film crew that donated their time to help me document the event, the staff, the class, the attempts and the people involved. it was overwhelmingly positive all around... even with a DK board that blew at 2am the night before... yep... all of a sudden the sounds all were messed up.... had it working by 4.30 am... thanks to gavin!!! http://www.gavinsgameservice.com/

many of us worked all night to try to make sure it was ready to go.... poor planing on my part... thousands of records to price, things to clean... power points to put together... etc...

i wanted to make sure the dk class was for the greatest amount of people there and mostly that was the novice. most were into it only from the movie and maybe some nostalgia... so we decided when we put it together to do a "101" style class, barely above and intro and let the questions steer it to more advanced stuff. i think it worked ok overall. the day in general was crazy, thanks for everyone patience we made it through!

thanks again everyone. i hope to be able to have other events....

any ideas? what would y'all like to see?

Thousands of records and Donkey Kong. It's just like my basement! It all goes so well together.

The DK101 class helped me get past the third elevators pretty regularly now. My high score went from 107k to 175k in one day. The entire evening was a ton of fun and Steve and Jim Zespy are great guys. Steve and I went to the Bears/Seahawks playoff game on Sunday as he is a big Seattle fan. Too bad for him the Seahawks sent their b-team. We had lots of fun doing the Chicago thing though.
