So who else has played this? I got to play one last night. Let me say its a stunning game in person. I didn't get to play it much to formulate a complete opinion but I can say it looks like it would be a fun game in home use. I think my son would love it! So how about comparing it to Lord of the Rings? Which one would you prefer?

I have played it quite a bit on location. It is an OK game, pretty much your common newer Stern. I didn't find anything special about it but there was nothing that really detracted from it either. I would not replace a LoTR with this game though.

Yeah that's what I thought initially. I want something complicated so I think I will be sticking with a LOTR (Still haven't found one yet! :) )

Well Hugh, come up to my place to pick up that cab, haha, and you can play both.

I would stick with LOTR as well if I had to make the decision to let one go. I have to disagree with it being like most common Stern's though. It's a lot of fun, and has some decent depth. I can get to Battle Royal fairly often but haven't gotten close to Super Hero yet. It's a fast and fun game, with good shot variety, and to me is great for a few quick games.

Games like LOTR and such take a lot more time to complete a lot of the modes, I would compare it more to TSPP as far as code depth. Either way you can't go wrong but I would vote for LOTR as well.

Comparing the two is kind of like comparing Attack From Mars to Twilight Zone. One has deep modes with more methodical play, the other is all about simple modes with fast flow.

I have a Lord of the Rings and I'm trying to swing a trade to unload my Indiana Jones for a Spider-Man. I'm real close to getting the deal done, I'm just waiting on the other guy to get his side of the deal in order.

Spider-Man's awesome and it's even better in home use...cuz you can have the newest software, and the location version might not be running it. You can have a shaker motor, which the location version may not have. You can set Coil Pulse to HARD which makes the flippers super snappy and the ramp shots smooooth and faaast. ...and, you can add LEDs to the spotlights which make the characters really pop!

I'd say it's equal to LOTR in the sense that I'd never get rid of either. It's like a cross between AFM and STTNG, and the software (2.4 version) is fantastic. You have to be really good at making shots and combos to get the white modes started, which is a welcome change and challenge from the typical mode starts in games. You have to be smart about stacking opportunities (you can start a mode, then a multi...but not the other way around). You get multipliers for starting and finishing modes, and it's a HUGE incentive not to lose your ball...cuz you lose your multipliers. On top of all the white modes, you have 3 battles for each villian, Battle Royale when you've defeated each villian twice...and Super Hero when you've played all the white modes & villain battles. Not as deep as LOTR, but plenty deep and challenging to reach that final wizard mode!
