am I wrong or should the replacement be a 2114? I know I have an issue with one of these so I ordered some 2114's from Bob. Popped them in and instead of the graphics/game play issue I had I just get numbers like the game won't boot. Do I have the wrong replacement part?

Is the replacement part too slow?
If the part called out in the design is for an Intel P2114AL-4 then you need a 200nS or faster part. As many people seem to believe, the "-4" suffix does not mean 400nS. Intel used a combination random-number generator along with the phase of the moon to create the suffix number and how it relates to speed. For this part, the "-4" is for 200nS.

Also, the P2114AL-4 is a low power part, there are lots of 2114's out there that are not low power versions. Does the one on your board need to be low power (i.e. battery backed)?
