Someone contacted me with questions about a stern Galaxy pinball 1980. Game lights up but no score displays, wont coin up, and there is no sound. Any ideas? Bad rectifier board?

Open the backbox and count the LED flashes on the MPU. That's what I would do first. If it's stuck on solid then check all of the fuses and the voltages throughout the game. Ensure that you've got good power and go from there.

There could be a million things causing a game to not boot. That's where I would start.

Actually... the first step is to not jump to conclusions. That gets expensive ;)

all fuses are good and all voltages correct. still now power. no mpu flashes but no battery rot either

Does the LED on the MPU lock on solid or not come on at all? I'm assuming it comes on and stays on with no flashing.

If you've got good voltages at the MPU and the LED is stuck on it's time to pull out a logic probe and check the reset and clock circuits and start troubleshooting an MPU problem.

posting an update. replaced the rectifier board which was toast. now the game boots up and will make sound and all the lights and displays work amazing, however when you coin it up none of the solenoids work. any ideas?

Bump. Guy called and said he reseated all connections, rechecked the fuses again, and gave it a good once over. still wont do anything when coined up other than make noise lol
