My starwars has been acting up...

Sounds seem to have been missing all along... Isn't it supposed to say "your all clear kid." before you take the death star shot.

Also after the machine is warmed up (say 10 minutes) sounds get all screwy and garbled.

Any of you had similar experiences? What to do? where to find the information.

I know that I am going to be told to check the PS, but I don't have schematics on where to check the 5 Volts.

If that is not the case.... who has the sound roms and how much?

who has the

i would start with replacing any electrolytic capacitors in the audio circuit or on the sound card, whatever STAR WARS uses.

no sense in buying new ROM's and having same problem.

while its out, reflow any cold solder joints. retest. now check your voltages and compare them to a schematic.

Is there anyone who fixes these things if it isn't the PS.

My sodering skills are weak and this is not a board that I wan't to practice on.

I just corrected the same problem on my Renegade board. The game has both a soundtrack and recorded sampled sounds. All of the sounds would work for the first few minutes, then the digital samples "character sayings" would become garbled and then drop out entirely. I just replaced all the capacitors tonight, except one large one that wasn't in stock at the local parts store. I wasn't expecting much, but it worked, all the sounds are back.

I think the sound is 12v on the SW cab, also I do recall reading about a bad socketed chip on the sound board that caused sound issues.
