I just got a StarWars ESB Kit from HighScoreSaves and I thought I installed it correctly. I run the self test and get no errors just the common rom error due to check sum being incorrect. I can play StarWars just fine and Destroy the DeathStar game cycles and repeats as it should. When I press the buttons for Empire Strikes Back the Game boots up to this image and the the screen goes crazy vectors everywhere then blank with no game activity. I then need to unplug the game it reboots to StarWars and thats my problem. If I change to ESB and go to the Self Test Menu this would be the last image, characters are all messed up, the game then goes black and there is no activity. My next plan it to remove the kit check for bent pins and reinstall. Any comments are appreciated.

Yes, please check all the pins and the kit is set proper.
If so, contact me through email, we can get you up and running!

Inserting the kit's pins into a poor socket is not "set proper".
(a poor socket would accept (i.e. with good contact), perhaps, the pins of the smaller ICs and CPU etc, but not the pins of the kit)
(all boards need to be inserted correctly)

I had similiar problems and then upon close inspection, one pin had bent and rolled upward onto itself. Was not visible because half the pin was showing and it looked like it was in the socket but it was not. Anyway give everything a surgical once over. Good Luck

I read about your problem. Im pretty sure all the pins had holes. But it is not entirely impossible. My bet is that I have sockets that need replacing but is suppose it could be anything. The board is solid tho as I have been using this setup to test vector monitors for a couple of years now.

Once I get this boards solid, my goal is to build an upright with a 25" monitor and then start looking for old tv's again. My goal is to put together the Quantum and possibly build a vector Cabaret of some sort. Wish to build a StarWars cockpit but I just don't have the room.

Happy camper. All pins were seated correctly and sockets are good. Problem was one of the 3 wire jumpers to the AVG board had pushed through the connector and wasn't making connection. Once I reseated the wire the connection was good. Now on to the 25" tube for the monitor.
