Think I'm gonna go all-out on this one, I am interested to see how well I can make it look. 2 questions for you guys, though. What threads are there around here that go into pretty specific detail about bondo-ing, painting, etc (basically the cosmetic end of it, I can do the hardware). Also, would you keep it TOTALLY original? I am thinking of maybe painting the inside of the cab white, etc. NOTHING that would change the outward appearance. Let me know your opinions, thanks. I'll post pics as it goes!

i got a euro also,at the mo its laid on its back in my bedroom ;)

it was suffering from some swelling at the front bottom,so i am just carrying out work on it.clamping, filling, sanding etc.i got it the beginning of the week.

all i can tell you is the insides of the cab have black vinyl on the left and right, its all raw wood and particle board otherwise.i also got irish with the silver coin door.i was suprised how thin the vinyl is on the sides,if you intend to revinyl it i would be sure to sand and prep the sides good before you apply the repro on it.

always a good idea to stay as original as you can but, that said, its your cab and only you know the true extent of what its realy like (condition) so you need to compromise, monies, can you live with it,good repro, original secondhand parts, nos etc!
:)

yes mine is fully working.

you seem more intent on cosmetics than anything else but, seeing as its an atari i would suggest you recap the ar board and replace the cap in the transformer (big blue) for longevity.it will do more good than bad if done right.

mine has pretty good art, theres no serious scrapes on the art,yes theres a few scratchs but, they didnt penetrate the vinyl, some magic eraser will be used on mine just to clean the white up more i think.like i say mine just needs work on the front bottom panel as it suffered swelling due to water,it had levellers but, they was fully up and i replaced them so it stands off the ground.just working on the bottom panel.

everything bar the faults i state are good, just a bit of screen burn but,i can live with that easily.
;)

The good news about restoring a Centipede is that the parts are plentiful. Check out the for sale section now if you need side art as phoneix arcade is running a special on the artwork.

You can go from the cab on the left to the cab on the right...

...just a matter of how much effort and cost you want to put into it.

Yeah, I may end up selling it at the end anyhow, but I still would like to put some work into it. I already checked out some parts here and there, it's not uber-expensive to do a cosmetic restore on it. Hardware-wise, it works, plays blind, has no back door, and has a lot of aesthetic damage, lock bars and the like. the bezel and the marquee are 98% perfect, and the cab has some minor water damage that needs attention. I'll try and do the best job I can with it, time permitting.
