I dug out an Atari power brick. I got out my bag of used connectors. I have finished some of the wiriring for this unit. I'm planning on the monitor.

Question:

What is the smallest Raster monitor out there to get? I was given info that a B/W x-y monitor is size specific. I'm going to go with a raster then.

If anyone have a smaller than 13" for sale, let me know :)

Thanks,
Kevin

A couple of the 9-inchers just showed up recently on teh Bay. Go look.

I use a 9" raster monitor in one of my test rigs but I prefer to use an RGB to VGA converter and a 15" LCD computer monitor. Much nicer.

This statement kind of confused me... what boards are you hoping to test? Obviously you'll have trouble testing vector boards with a raster monitor and vice versa. If you're testing raster boards a JAMMA rig with adapters will probably be more useful in the long run.

I was wanting to do a B/W for testing PCB's that use it, but I was told the vector is size specific. I'm going to use Raster instead for normal Atari. Test unit is original atari parts with the connector panel 100% compatable with Atari cab harness connectors.

Use one of those PSOne LCD monitors. They accept RGB if you do a little hacking.

Far lighter than carrying around a 9" standard monitor.

I can deal with a 9" monitor. I have the connectors (so far) and bought some I didn't have. Not sure what PCB I'll use in it yet, but Dig Dug for now.

The 7" Pachilslot (or whatever they are called) displays that Yellowdog was selling work great for testing boards. :)

I have 8 of those little CRT's that I bought ages ago. I planned on making some jamma rigs with them, but I have too many projects, like everyone else. I'm going to keep two of them, but I'd sell the other 6 at cost plus shipping. I think I paid $18-$20 each. I'll post a pic shortly.

EDIT: I'll post them in the for sale section if anyone is interested.

If I can get some info, I would buy one :)

For the record....vector is not size specific.

I can use a small b/w vector and video would be fine?

Thanks :)
Kevin
As KevinMullins suggested, get a cheap x/y o'scope. They typically have 5" screens (8cm x 10cm). They will be fine: Tempest He doesn't have the Z axis connected so he's getting vector retraces, but it works fine.
