Museum of the Game® & International Arcade Museum® Forums
There are some other great Red Tent restorations in progress by other members of the forum. Decided to start my own.
Over the weekend I fired it up and all works well. Monitors work, sound is good, all controls work. Game has SMB and Soccer installed. I had recently bought the roms for Excitebike. A quick install and it was up and running!
I had also bought a Goonies and Dr Mario board recently. Got both of the daughtercards set up on a second Nintendo motherboard and both games fired up as well!
Now that all the electronics have been looked at and checked, I move on to the meat of the restoration - the cosmetics. The control panels are grimy and rusty. There are dents and rust spots on the red portion of the body. I don't want this to turn into a lengthy restoration. I just want to get it looking good so I can get it in the arcade and enjoy over the holidays with my family.
I decided to dive into the control panels today. Removed both completely from the machine and brought them inside. Then stripped them completely down.
