Starting my own Red Tent journey!

Got some sanding and primer done on the red parts today. There is a deep scratch on the center piece so will probably do some bondo work prior to painting. Will have pics uploaded for the next time I post. It's way too windy here today to paint anyway so will try to perfect the body a little.

Also went to clean the monitor bezel glass today and noticed it was pretty scratched up. Does anyone know of a place I can buy replacements? Or should I just take it to a glass shop and have them replicate?

Have made some progress recently.

With the legs off at the powder coaters, I've turned my attention to the red parts.

Did extensive dent repair using a fender kit suggested by JimboDeanny. Was my first time removing dents and although not a perfect job, the metal was much improved.

Then sanded out any rough spots and sprayed some primer.

After primering, realized there was a deep scratch on top that still showed. Out came the Bondo - applied and sanded. Here's how all the stuff prepped for paint looks.

Good work man. Glad the hammer/dolly set worked well. It did for me. I've got some footage of it in part 4 of my videos.

Looks like it's coming along nicely for you! Keep it up.

Now for the coin plates...

This is how it started off:

Here's the after. It's a good angle so looks really clean, but there are some scratches that are visible. Used 000 fine steel wool and Simple Green.

One of them was pretty bad with pitts and discoloration in the clear coat - I decided to use an overlay by RidicRick on here (hopefully spelled it right)

Took the coin bezels and dipped them in Simple Green for 24 hours. Came out amazing. I was going to paint these originally but they look great now.

Funny thing...you did the exact same thing with the faceplates I did. Used the steel wool and simple green.

Haven't watched your video yet. Hoping to get a chance this weekend. Did you do the faceplates on there?

It's in part 3. I've only posted part 1 so far. Will have part 2 up next week. Just finished editing part 3 and starting on part 4. Not sure what part 5 will encompass. I'm still hunting for several parts.

Do you plan to keep the coin mechs? If you don't care about one or more you can make a little bracket to add a free play switch behind it. I went ahead and wired one slot for free play and one for a hard reset for a pc10 PCB.

Some of the games stay static in the free play mode. That was a worry for me on the second screen. Another solution is adding a secondary power switch for the second monitor.

Nice progress.

That's interesting. Can you post a pic of yours?

If you do not mind, post the cost for coating the legs and some images when you get them back. As for the chiping you do have to get a good primer and wait a few days for them to dry. It is also a little tricky to slide down the covers without scratching the paint.

Got my legs back from the powder coaters today and they're beautiful! I went gloss black. Cost was $75.

Some spray paint action for the red parts: Removed all the dents I could and did the best I could. It used to be a 2/10, now it's probably an 8/10.

Those legs look sweet!

How many coats did you go with on the red uppers?

2 coats, then some touch ups wherever I felt necessary. Again, not a perfect job but much improved over the initial condition. Once its in a darker arcade setting, it will look great.

Now for the dreaded task of tackling the control panels...

Attaching the legs to the body should be a pain as well.....anyone have any tips? When I took them off, I just rolled the tent on it's side onto a stack of blankets but I'm afraid to do that now that it's all looking pretty!

Put some work into reassembling the control panels this weekend.

Here's a few shots of the vinyl overlays I decided to use against the original metal CP.

Here are the final completed CPs. I decided to use mostly black buttons except for the B button which is red.

Looking great! When I got mine it had the leg extender kit on it, I created a scafolding out of 2 tables and about 4-5 2x4's to set the bottom of the game on then unbolted the legs and slid them down and out. I had to have 2 people to get it up there with the legs on, but if yours is empty and the legs are off, you could probably set it up on the scaffolding yourself then just slide the legs up, put something under the legs to hold them in place and bolt them on.
