Starting an arcade game museum

Well, since we all are collectors of games, I'm sure everyone here approves.

I wouldn't look for the other 250 residents of Rodeo, New Mexico to care much, though.

It's not a new idea. Much respect for your intentions. Just make sure to do your homework and plot a (non-profit) business model that will sustain the thing.

There was a guy on here that got everyone amped-up on the idea of an arcade museum then he proceeded to screw-up the entire thing and many felt manipulated and deceived into helping with it only to get the shaft in the end.

So you could say some on here will take a once bitten twice shy approach to the idea.

But good luck, hope it works out.

To bad you didn't live a bit closer to Rochester, NY. Strong museum has an excellent video game section in their museum. Here is a link to their site for some inspiration.

Good luck on getting yours running.

Sounds like a good idea, just don't ask anybody for donations. We had that happen one time before with bad consequences!!! :(

Who are you talking about?

didn't danofearth buy lots of machines from us KLOVers at great prices and send a truck across the east half of the country picking up and dropping off games for no fee?

I didn't realize any KLOVers got screwed by him, if so tell me how?

some people plaaning a wedding got the shaft pretty hard though.

I think we "KLOVers" were to get first crack at the machines we sold if he (Dan) were to sell them. And he listed them in one lot on ebay then on CL without notice. He did rip off a bunch of ladies who were getting married at his mothers wedding place that never opened.

I still have the 55 Gallon Aquarium and Stand I gto from Keiths3 that Troy delivered. It's currently not in use.

I still have the Outrun upright that I got in trade for the Outrun Sitdown that Troy brought me. The $650 that they gave me for my 4 player Atari Football and my Bagman, however, was spent on Mongolian BBQ and Cambodian Hookers.

As I'm sure you know 1 of the above always taste better than the other, however both can make you ill. :)

Both will also fill Phet up temporarily, but leave him feeling empty and hungry for more an hour or two later.

Thanks, I knew about a few others so I created an "Other Arcade Museums" page.
I bet there are more out there.

hmmmm...

Isn't every collector's collection a museum of sorts?

Check out Steve23 in SE Georgia

Of course, I guess I meant ones that are open to the public most of the time. One of the home arcades that inspired me to do this is Peter Hirschberg's Luna City Arcade. http://lunacityarcade.com/

It's really amazing what he created and he has game days every once in a while where you can go play but is not usually open to the public.
