I saved the Starship one and the sub Rock from becoming a permanent resident of an arcade graveyard this weekend so so sad!!!

Ugh.... WHY can't any of these places ever be within driving distance of me?? :(

Subroc gets repetitive but it has a really cool cab and the 3D works well! Might want to start sourcing replacement motors for the 3D spinners though, assuming those aren't seized already the originals are prone to failure, though maybe oiling them will help.

Very nice, very interesting. I feel I have seen pictures of this place before  I don't know of any arcade graveyards around in Arizona. That would be something neat to explore though.

Any backstory here? These games are just sitting outside in a random field? How long have they been there?

The owner had a spot in the mall that he had to vacate. He & his kids moved all the games out in haste, fit what he could in the detached garage, and the rest went under tarps in the back yard/driveway. Wind took the tarps & the rain/snow took the cabs. Some were more securely covered, and could be saved. Others were lost completely.

Glad you could save those two!

All these games are owned by a local arcade operator that needed to downsize. I got the lead from a fellow klov'r asking to help preserve these games. Seeing pics of the games was sad, but actually seeing all the games sitting out in the weather was heart breaking. It does not matter if they are from the Bronze Age, Golden Age or even some redemption games, they don't deserve to die a slow death this way. The games brought joy and excitement to young and old when they were new. It is depressing to see these games in the condition they are in now. I felt compelled to try and preserve these games. The owner does not just let anyone come and visit. It took a concerted effort to be able to see the games and then getting the opportunity to purchase not one but two games was lucky.

I've never understood the mindset of some people. "Ill try and sell these since I don't have the room." vs. "I am going to put these outside until the Earth and mother nature reclaims them."

Oy.

The real mindset is "I'll just let them sit outside and rot" vs. "I'll deal with the lowballers and tirekickers on CL and KLOV". I'd choose #1 as well... selling stuff is a hassle. ;)

The owner had a hard time letting them go... even now in their current condition. He kept thinking that it was "temporary" and that he could move them or build a permanent shelter. Life just happened and time/weather got the best of him.

He's a good guy, had the dream of keeping it all (like us collectors), but it just didn't happen for him.
