I just purchased a stargate. I was getting a code on the LEd 111. I assumed these was caused by the sockted chips on the cpu board. So I moved the sockted chip to the left one now I am getting a code on the LED 121. the numbers on these chips are ITT-8108 4116-4N there are 24 of these socketed chips on the cpu. can some one tell me where I can purchase some of these and if I am on the right track? Thanks

Error codes are broken into three numbers. The first number indicates what the problem is. 1 is a RAM error, 2 is a ROM error.

1-1-1 indicates that there is a problem with RAM chip 1 in bank 1. Since you moved it over one position and the error moved, you need to replace that RAM chip.

Edit: You can order 4116 RAM chips from Jameco Electronics: http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10001_10001_41339_-1 as well as other places. Just look for 4116 RAM chips.

While you are at it, do some reading on "Williams 4164 RAM", and swap those old 4116 out for the best practice RAM. Not terribly difficult, and well worth it.
