Been awhile since my last post. I just picked up a stargate cab with phraze craze installed. Cab has been painted but is in really good shape. New T moulding & it'll need nothing other than paint. Game works 100%. My questions are...is it worth returning to stargate (shoestring budget), and does anyone have pics of the inside of one? Much of the wiring has been cut and it has a non-original power supply. I'm not sure what all I'll have to buy to "correctly" return it to a Stargate. Thanks!

btw, I've no williams games experience at all.

I don't think it can be done cheaply. A good/working Williams boardset isn't super cheap. You'd basically need a donor game. An unconverted control panel isn't easy to find, nor is a bezel. Marquees seem rather plentiful. Gamestencils sells the stencil set. You could get a donor harness from Dokert, but you'd need a Williams power brick assembly. If you want to restore it to keep, go for it. To flip or trade later, probably not worth it.

A complete restore would not be cheap, however you could always restore it to look like a Stargate but put in a Multi Williams board. That is what I intend to do with my converted Stargate cabinet.

I agree. With a restorable Williams cabinet, and especiallly if you don't have any of the Williams games, this is a really good way to go..

Thanks to all. I'd love to have a multi williams game. I thought it might be much less expensive to go original. I've seen some multi boards for around $285 (arcade shop?). Is that about the going rate?

I think JROK is supposed to have another batch of his MW boards at the end'sh of this year?... I think.

That'd be the way to go. Best MW board on the market, and it's cheaper than the ArcadeShop board. IMO, that's the way to go.

FWIW, I'm doing the exact same thing. Painted/Converted Stargate cab that I'm looking to restore to a MW.

Got my jrok board and starting to accumulate parts. Probably won't get this done until spring. In process of making stencils as I can still see the side art outline under the paint.

I have a NOS Stargate marquee I will sell for $40+shipping.
It still has the protective paper on the front.
The back is perfect also.
PM me if you want it.

I'd consider buying the stencils, for how much trouble (time especially) they save, but go for it! I think re-stenciling with the Stargate artwork is the way to go on this cabinet, even if going multi, as the Stargate artwork looks really good. Glad to hear you're restoring it.
