Could a fellow Stargate owner help me out. Both the left and right side metal ramps on mine have large metal screws put into the playfield on each side of the bottom. This obviously was someone's quick/cheap fix and I am curious, how are the side walls of the ramps supposed to be held in place/secured?

Any help is appreciated, thanks. I will grab some pictures later to clear up any confusion my description may cause.

Ill see if I can grt a pic tonight. Was late leaving for work as is...was tryibg to get Shuttle ready to fold up fir tpf.

Here are the pics as promised.

I think they're probably welded to the underside of the ramp? I don't know, as I have yet to remove a ramp.

If it needs fixing, why don't you remove your ramp and see for yourself? Maybe it can be secured with epoxy?

I have removed it before. There aren't broken spot weld marks on mine if that's what you think I would see. It is hard to tell how two pieces used to be connected, which is why I asked.

I wouldn't think epoxy would work very well. The metal is pretty thin and there inst much connection area between the two pieces.

Well, I guess you'll have to buy new ramps then.

While that is an option for the right ramp, it is not for the left ramp. If you look at the PBR listing, the Left Ramp is no longer available and has not been for quite some time.

So, since I have to figure out a solution for the left ramp anyways, may as well also do it with the right ramp instead of laying down the money for the used one available on PBR.

Found my answer. These tabs are apparently supposed to be on there, and I am guessing those are what are welded.

I was going to post on here after I tore mine apart the other day. My ramp has the exact same issue. One tab broke at the bend at the very bottom of the ramp. The weld is still intact..

What a stupid STUPID design... :|

Got mine fixed today, had to find a good welding guy who wouldnt damage the ramp, it was not a real easy repair he said, but turned out great, he noted its stronger now than original and it was reasonable...

I was really considering having someone weld the entire corners where the ramps meet, honestly.

What's the other side look like, and what did he do? I can't tell from the pic, but it looks like half a tab is completely gone?

Here is another pic, he had to add some steel in the weld, this is why I shopped it around, found a master guy, the yoda of welding and he did it right, I decided against multiple welds as the others are not stressed like the bottom tab...

How does the top of the ramp look?

I know one of the concerns with welding these is that the heat can cause discoloration.

Ramp looks great, he was worried too about discoloration but noted that if he went slow and kept a heat barrier on one side it would be fine which it is, here are some poor before and after pics after I hit this sucker with Brasso and applied the new decal...lots of dirt accumulates in the texture on the ramp, but comes out shiny with the brasso
