Wow, I love multi-williams machines. It's hilarious how somebody put a vent cover thing where the speaker goes?

Yea I laughed with Tronguy when I picked up the empty cab.
I replaced it with a metal one that closely matches the original one.
I ordered it from a company that makes speaker grills and it came prebent,by my measurements, and powder coated.
I have since put T-Molding on but still need to clear coat it.
It was just way too hot this summer to do it.

Maybe I should have the title changed. Here's some dado work done this past weekend.

Interesting thread. I've never seen a Williams cab put together from scratch. So, once you've got the wood cut, what method are you using to put it all together? Glue and screws?

looks good!.is that rich,s stencil?.

Yes it is.
Funny thing is he sent me the first ones and they were way too big for the cab.
I don't think it would fit any cab,it was that big.
He sent the correct size right out to me though.

That stencil is nice and I like it better than the jumbled up other one. I thought it was a decal so I'm glad to hear it's a stencil.

And we plan on using whatever original method they used to put it together. I forgot exactly, but my dad would know. I'm pretty sure it's glue and staples, but can't remember . Too much candy and twisted tea.

It is available in adhesive backed side art also.
I agree the stencil version is much better.

I'm planning to restore an old converted Stargate into a MW and want to use Rich's MW stencil just for Stargate cabs:

The only thing I want to do differently is come up with a CPO that is a Stargate theme. That way it will look more original than the regular MW CPO does.

Anyone want a nice fully populated CP for Stargate? I picked one up years ago when I planned this to be a Stargate restoration, but since then I wanted to make a Jrok MW instead. I need to buy a new MW panel and CPO. Selling the original would help me pay for it.

It's a hard decision on whether to paint it black with the other stencil or all red with the above one. Maybe red since it's a Stargate repro.

Tomorrow we plan on gluing it together. The only thing of concern so far is the power switch hole on the back, top, right. Does anyone know what size it is or alternate tools to use? He said his biggest hole drilling bit is what he used, but it's too small. I can tell it's gonna cause troubles and I'm bringing the switch over tomorrow to make sure.

I would have used the Stargate MW stencil if my cab had been a SG.

Harbor freight or mlcs onlines sells cheap forstner bits.

Well, we did a trial-fit and everything went together well. Just have to cut down the left side a bit and make the power switch hole bigger. I think the hole measured 1.25", I can't remember.

We'll be ready to glue probalby next weekend. I don't think there are any staples involved.

we hit a bit of a snag. how do you guys cut the slit for the t-molding? he said he can the side on the table saw, but won't be able to get in the curved parts. what do you think the thickness of that cut is? maybe theres a router bit that will do it.

1/16 inch slot cutter and a router. You just have to get it perfectly centered.

To get it centered, adjust your router and run a test cut on a piece of wood that is the same thickness. Then put your t-molding in the test piece and check for a good fit. Adjust as necessary.
