My Stargate was working pretty reliably and now it's not... I'm going through the normal process of checking board voltages. Everything seems ok, although the 5V rail is around 5.6V which is a little high, but at least the 74xxxx ICs handle up to 7V. (Haven't dug into the RAM absolute max ratings)
In any case, having confirmed there were no low voltages, I was doing a cursory wiggle test hoping to win the lottery and realized some of the RAM were fairly warm compared to others. I recorded rough temps with an IR thermometer. Below is looking at the PCB as mounted on the door.
Nothing precise by any means, but the temps range between 115-125 for most of the ICs, but there is a definite drop on the 7th row and the 8th row is basically room temp.
I know better than to start directly probing the RAM, but wondering if there is a voltage drop on the last two rows. Don't have time to dig further but thought I'd throw this out to see if anyone has used temperature to find problems on a board. (aside from actual smoke or flame)
