Well, It would seem that I have pleased the Karma gods and have started 2010 off on the right foot.

Picked up a Williams Stargate machine in pretty good shape, for the awesome price of FREE. Almost 4 hours round trip to pick it up, but was well worth it. In my own geeky ways I'm excited to work on a Williams machine.

The board set has some issues, mostly with the video signal. My suspicions tell me cold solder joints on the pin headers; but after a good cleaning troubleshooting will begin later today! I won't hold my breath on that theory though, after the power supply issues I've read about.

Here's the pictures:

Found some treasure inside the machine that the owner did not know was there:

Yup, no kidding. I spent the afternoon cleaning it all out.. found some Canadian tokens I've never seen before.

Managed to get the game working and playable too! :D There was a loose connection somewhere that was fixed during cleaning and reseating all chips/connectors. Lucky for me the power supply has been putting out stable voltage at +5.07 and 12.05.

Going to spend a couple more hours detailing and cleaning, will post pictures once it's respectable able :)

I like what you've done to that Nintendo CT top. Those huge white empty nintendo cocktails always seemed a little disappointing appearance-wise.

The purist in me struggles with it a little, but the stickers look like genuine BITD ones, so that's cool.

Hmmm, that must have been the Stargate that was in Salmon Arm? A little too far for me, especially when I already have an UR and CT Stargate! LOL

Nice find... I was wondering if anybody was going to grab it.

Is that a TRON I see?? :D

Congrats on the find. Can't beat free.

TRON .. formerly. It's scary. 1942 marquee, 1943 bootleg pcb, jamma harness, switcher, was cheap (and first game bought).

Very nice find! Gonna have to get a new cpo, though. :D

Haha yes, the existing cpo is some Willis replacement. It cleaned up pretty nice though, but mamemarquees has cheap repros..

The cocktail came with the stickers applied when I purchased it, but I think they look great. Whoever put them on did a good job placing them, and didn't write on any.

I gave the cabinet a good cleaning with my air compessor, then a good scrube down with light soap and water. The sideart is in very good shape, with minor wear and tear.

Cpo cleaned up, white is white now, hehe. Bad burn marks tho. Buttons cleaned up really nice though! :)

Going to have to get a new instruction card for the bezel, door locks, and a new cpo. Next project tho is to upgrade the cmos battery to a cr2032 lithium battery.
